  • Aluminum Christmas Trees: Jack's habit of reading the first five pages and the last five pages of a book to see if it is worthwhile is portrayed as if it were negligent on his part, but it is actually fair by industry standards. note
  • Critical Dissonance: This film was universally reviled by critics, receiving a score of 0% fresh from 54 critics on Rotten Tomatoes in 2012, by which time it had become highly unusual for any film on the site to receive a 0%. 47% of audience scorers, however, stated that they liked it, and elsewhere it's generally considered So Okay, It's Average. Given the starting point, there was pretty much nowhere but up.
  • Ensemble Dark Horse: The chipper, music-loving barista played by Jack McBrayer who has to guess a lot of funny pantomiming actions is a fairly well-liked character in the poorly received film.
  • He Really Can Act: Never thought loudmouth Eddie Murphy could do such silent pantomiming, did you?
