Freelancers is a web video series from JK! Studios, a clean comedy digital network created by former cast members of Studio C. It follows the exploits of five broke friends and their video production company called... Video Production Company.

The first episode of each season introduces the employees of VPC in their company's pitch video. Here are their names and how they're described in the pitch videos:

    • "Girlboss, Girlproducer, Girl"
  • Micah Pratchet (Stacey Harkey)
    • "Sound, Lighting, Hair/Makeup in a pinch"
    • "Sound & Lighting, Hates Panera Bread, Because he loves it so much"
  • Ryan McCloud (Matt Meese)
    • "Camera Operator, Tripod Operator, Camera Bag Operator"
    • "Camera Operator"
  • Owen Darby (Stephen Meek)
    • "Director, Visionary, Impossible Standards"
    • "Director, Dreamer, Claims to have 6 pack abs but always wears a t-shirt in the pool"
  • Devin Mann (Mallory Everton)
    • "Editing, Colorist, Endearing when you get to know her really well"
    • "Editing, Coloring, Don't call her, she'll call you"

You can watch for free on YouTube:

On 2 November 2020, JK! Studios announced a partnership with Angel Studios and an opportunity for people to invest in the production of future seasons of Freelancers.

On 4 January 2021, during a live stream, they reached their goal of a little over one million dollars in investments, confirming eight episodes for season two. During said stream, creator and head writer Mallory Everton informed the audience they were shooting for a release date sometime in autumn 2021.

Season two premiered on 4 November 2021 on Angel Studios' app. On 19 May 2022, season two episodes began releasing on YouTube.

This show provides examples of:

  • Abhorrent Admirer
    • Mr. Gandolfini, their stalker/neighbor, who really wants to be friends with them, so much so that in "Love Match Supreme Part 2" he makes fake profiles on a dating app so he can match with them, "for friendship."
    • Also Merlin, Zona's date in the same episode, who is described as being impossibly ugly.
  • Accidental Bargaining Skills: Joan approaches Zona and Devin (who are Dumpster Diving for anything they can sell) with a $50,000 per year gig working for Krispy Kreme. Zona replies "What?" and Joan keeps raising the deal by $10,000. Devin encourages her to "keep saying what."
  • Accidental Kiss: Devin and Micah in "Zona And Bike Boy." The entire VPC team is squicked out by it.
  • Acquired Error at the Printer: In "CrossFit", their business cards say "Video Producton Company".
  • Aren't You Going to Ravish Me?: A variant occurs in "Doodles Chips," when Owen questions whether he was too ugly for the Doodles Chips cult to want to brainwash him.
  • Bad Liar: Micah involuntarily speaks with a British accent when he lies.
  • Bat Deduction: Devin and Micah engage in this to attempt to determine where Miss Gwen has gone in "Learn, Fun, Can." They conclude that she has fled to Mexico with an illegal fireworks seller. In reality, she's right there in the parking lot where they're standing.
  • Batman Gambit: In "Karate!", Micah, Owen, and Ryan have recently taken a free martial arts class and are overconfident in their abilities, and Devin has recently acquired a beat-up old scooter that she loves. When Zona becomes enraged with Owen for dissing Danny DeVito, she exacts her revenge by leveraging the others' personalities. She gets Mr. Gandolfini to repeatedly tip the scooter, resulting in Devin staking it out to find the offender. When the boys talk about taking a walk in a rough neighborhood (theirs) at night to have a chance to use their new found "skills," Zona sarcastically suggests they wear ninja masks, leading them to do exactly that. When Devin finds her scooter tipped again, and three people in dark clothing and masks nearby, she assumes they are the perpetrators and hands them a beat-down.
  • Berserk Button:
    • If you diss Danny DeVito, Zona will exact her revenge.
    • Tip over Devin's scooter and she will maul you. Zona uses this to her advantage to get back at Owen for dissing Danny DeVito.
    • Devin once worked in a circus, eating raw meat while people guessed her credit score. The job "messed [her] up good" and she doesn't take kindly to being reminded of it by the Circus Berserkus.
Mr. Nightmare: You went berserkus on my circus? ... What a jerkus.
    • In "Doodles Chips," we learn that Zona's "skin thing" is not to be the subject of any jokes among the VPC team.
Zona: Someone say somethin' about skin?
    Owen: I didn't say anything.
    Ryan: Never.
Micah: I don't know what skin is.
Zona glares at the others and walks off, scratching her arm.
Zona: (popping back in, startling the others) HEY!
    Devin: (panicked) SKIN!
  • Beware the Nice Ones: Ryan is typically an almost childlike sweetheart, but in "Zona and Bike Boy," when he is arrested because the cops incorrectly suspect him of having attempted to steal a car, he rabidly resists arrest.
  • Big "NO!": Micah when VPC loses the Love Match Supreme account.
  • Bizarre Taste in Food: Devin's idea of a good breakfast on the run is to take a bag with a couple slices of bread in it, pour in some milk, shake it up, and eat it with a spoon.
    • Ryan is shown heating up Froot Loops on the stove.
  • The Bore: Frank Butts in the office safety video VPC films in the pilot.
  • Bottle Episode: "Power Outage," which takes place fully at the VPC home, and has only one Cutaway Gag.
  • Brick Joke: In "Karate!", Devin vows that she will make an example of the leader of the raccoons in her "rummage territory." She is later seen sewing and then wearing a coonskin cap.
  • Bring My Brown Pants: Owen who lost "full control" during Devin's No-Holds-Barred Beatdown of the boys, most likely during the part where she was tasering him.
  • Brutal Honesty: Devin, to an unflinching degree.
Devin: I make Honest Abe look like a sack of crap!
  • Butt-Monkey: The world just seems to have it out for Zona, so much so that the writers decided they had to pull back on the abuse she receives.
  • Callback
    • In "Wheel of Challenges," Devin holds her breath for 4 minutes 10 seconds to win the "Breath Holding" contest. She must have been training, since this is significantly longer than the time she set at the start of "Karate!"
    • Owen's micro-stomach (first mentioned in "Karate!") spares him from getting drugged by the Doodles Chips cult.
  • The Casanova: Surprisingly Owen. The guy has no trouble flirting and charming women, as seen in "Love Match Supreme" and "Circus Berserkus," but his quirks will often leave them too weirded out or disgusted. Played straight however in "Power Outage," in which he gains a veritable harem of beautiful women, thanks to Devin's eagle.
  • Chekhov's Gag: Owen's micro-stomach is what prevents him from being mind-controlled by the Cult, as he is unable to fully digest the drugged Doodle Chips.
  • The Chessmaster: Zona is shown to be quite the schemer in "Karate!" and "Wheel of Challenges."
  • Child Hater: Zona says in "Learn, Fun, Can" that she's fine with babies but toddlers give her the heebie jeebies. She changes her mind by the end of the episode.
  • Christmas Episode:
    • The short sketch "A Freelancers Christmas" is about the strange gifts Devin gives to the team.
    • The season 2 finale "A Freelancers Carol" takes place on the three days surrounding Christmas and tells Yet Another Christmas Carol.
  • Cloudcuckoolander: All five of the main characters, and a majority of the people they interact with, but Ryan and Devin are in a class all their own.
  • Conspicuous Consumption: Joan from Krispy Kreme displays a donut stuffed with cash, then proceeds to eat it. She also offers Zona use of a corporate card, good for free donuts and liposuction.
Devin and Zona: (awed) No consequences...
  • Continuity Nod
    • In "Student Body President," Devin tells William Vanderchild that she and Zona live on the lawn. This references the pilot, in which Devin traded their apartment lease and furniture for a tent.
    • Later in the same episode, while Devin imagines a conversation with her "mind melon," some objects and faint images are seen floating around, including a "HOT DONUTS!" sign (originally seen in the pilot), the number "720" (referenced in "Circus Berserkus"), and Scoots MaGoots (introduced in "Karate!").
    • Later on, Zona asks Micah to confirm that he understands that they're doing a smear campaign against Vanderchild, not a "schmear" campaign. Micah looks uncomfortable and mutters "But of course" with a British accent, referencing "Power Outage" where it's established that he involuntarily speaks with a British accent when he lies.
    • "Zona And Bike Boy" shows that Owen's still fascinated with ninjas, which was established in "Karate!"
    • In "Wheel of Challenges," when Zona reveals her rigging the wheel, Micah declares, "For shame, Zona!" and holds out the Shame Hat, which Micah and Zona both wore in "Power Outage."
    • Even later, Zona is shown to particularly have it out for Owen in the flashback where she's putting her housemates' hands in bowls of warm water to make them pee themselves. She was previously shown to single out Owen in "Karate!"
    • In "Learn, Fun, Can," Petunia can be seen briefly inside the refrigerator when Owen opens it to get some yogurt. Petunia first appeared in "Cursed."
    • Micah mentions in the same episode that "pandas abandon their babies all the time," to which Ryan vehemently replies, "I won't hear a WORD against pandas!" This recalls his love of pandas mentioned in the pilot.
  • Cordon Bleugh Chef: Mr. Gandolfini offers the VPC team some pickled mule in "Learn, Fun, Can."
Mr. Gandolfini: It's the tuna of the land!
  • Corrupt Corporate Executive: Joan from Krispy Kreme.
  • Creepy Doll: Ryan's "curse" in the episode "Cursed" is Petunia, a demonic-looking doll who brings a lollipop for Ryan every time she appears to him.
  • Cult: The VPC crew unwittingly join one while they believe they are shooting a Kickstarter campaign for a brand of chips.
  • Curb-Stomp Battle: Devin beats the snot out of Micah, Owen, and Ryan (not realizing it was them), believing that they were tipping her scooter. Apparently the one martial arts class they took was no match for her Unstoppable Rage.
  • Curse: Miriam the Medium places one on the VPC crew in the appropriately titled "Cursed". After suffering under it (except for Ryan, who comes to love the Creepy Doll that follows him), they in turn place one on Miriam. In the end they all come to an understanding and break the respective curses on each other.
  • Cutaway Gag: So many examples that they have their own page.
  • Death Glare: Frank Butts inflicts one on Micah, Devin, and Ryan for daring to giggle at his last name.
  • Demonic Possession: The Clock that Mr. Gandolfini gifted the gang is revealed to be haunted by a demon, which after breaking out, makes a beeline for Owen.
  • Department of Redundancy Department
    • Zona in VPC's promotional video:
Zona: If you're watching this, then you must need a video for your business company...
    • Ryan, later in the same episode:
Ryan: How're we gonna find $4,000 in six hours? We're broke poor.
  • Disproportionate Retribution: This is Devin's MO. Most notable is her reaction when her scooter is repeatedly tipped over: "Heads will ROLL for this! Faces will be EATEN!"
  • A Dog Named "Dog": Video Production Company is, well, a video production company.
  • Drunk with Power: Owen during the time that he becomes the leader of the Doodles Chips cult.
  • Dumpster Dive: Zona and Devin, trying to find something to sell to raise money to compensate Frank Butts for his injury.
  • Eat the Evidence: After Joan points out that her contract could still be considered legally binding even if Zona signed it with the wrong name, Owen eats the contract.
Owen: (somewhat alarmed) Why was that delicious?
Joan: We deep fry our stationary!
    Owen: (intrigued) Oh my.
  • Eating the Eye Candy: Zona openly ogles Mr. Pecs.
  • Egg Sitting: In "Student Body President," William Vanderchild kisses a student's "flour baby."
  • Every Man Has His Price: The VPC crew is indignant about being hired for child care rather than filming in "Learn, Fun, Can." They change their tune when Miss Gwen plunks down $1,300.
  • Foreshadowing: Images of a pirate flag and Abraham Lincoln can be seen floating in the background in Devin's "mind melon" vision. Later, in "Wheel of Challenges," Devin's flag is indeed the Jolly Roger, and she states that her integrity "make[s] Honest Abe look like a sack of crap."
  • Friend to All Children: Zigzagged with Zona, while she thinks babies are adorable, toddlers give her the heebie-jeebies. However, after having to babysit a classroom of pre-schoolers, who all instantly love her, she changes her tune.
  • Freudian Slip: One of the Doodles Chips co-CEOs/cult leaders mentions that they're trying to create a global tragedy—er, strategy.
  • Friend to All Living Things: In her own twisted way, Devin has a deep, almost disturbing connection with nature.
  • Funny Background Event: In "Circus Berserkus," after Micah mentions his penchant of signing his name to random things, demonstrated after lifting an oblivious Ryan's shirt to show his name already written across Ryan's stomach, Micah is seen writing his name on one of the walls in the background while Zona and Mr. Nightmare continue to argue over the contracts.
  • Gilligan Cut: While the two are being arrested, Micah insists that both he and Ryan remain strong. Cut to him sobbing and blaming the entire ordeal on Ryan, while Ryan rabidly resists arrest.
  • Girls with Moustaches: Devin inexplicably has grown a beard during the three months that she was brainwashed by the Doodles Chips cult.
  • Gone Horribly Right: Devin's gamble with advertising on ClickFunnels for VPC does work out well... too well. They end getting more clients than they can serve.
  • G-Rated Drug: Crayons, which Ryan finds irresistable in "Learn, Fun, Can." Played for Laughs, of course.
  • Hamster-Wheel Power: Micah has the idea to use one to power the computer in "Power Outage." Not having a giant hamster wheel, they opt for the stationary bike.
  • Hate Sink: Mr. Gandolfini, the creepy, annoying, near-stalkerish next door neighbor of the VPC crew is hated by pretty much everyone he meets. His attempts to befriend them go all the way to catfishing all of them (barring Zona) through an online service, nearly costing them a job. In another instance, it costs them a payday, after Mr. Pecs has to allocate VPC's payment to repair the sauna that Mr. Gandolfini destroyed.
  • I Ate WHAT?!: At the end of "Doodles Chips," the rest of the VPC team is watching Owen scrape the boat first seen at the start of the episode, and the man who hired them has shared with them his unidentified yellowish drink. He tells Owen that he will only know where the film came from if they test his urine. Devin immediately looks concerned about her drink. (The man later says it's "alligator yolk.")
  • I Can't Believe It's Not Heroin!: Both expired sports drinks and crayons have been treated like they were drugs.
  • Imagine Spot
    • In the pilot, Zona briefly imagines being a sign spinner performing for the queen of England.
    • In "Circus Berserkus," when Zona encounters a masked, chainsaw-wielding character, she has a sudden fantasy of herself with him in a candlelit room, sipping wine and reading contracts (which she said earlier was her favorite part of her job).
    • During "Student Body President" Devin begins imagining a mind melon locked in a cage, that she must release to regain her confidence.
  • Insult Backfire: Zona tells Devin that she looks "like fat Scott Calvin from The Santa Clause." Devin's response? "That's what I was going for!"
  • I Surrender, Suckers: Miss Gwen pulls off a non-violent version of this in "Learn, Fun, Can." When Devin and Micah corner her in her car, she convinces them that she will return to the class with them willingly. But as soon as they leave the car, she locks them out.
  • Jerk with a Heart of Jerk: William Vanderchild, who is running for student body president. He's haughty, elitist, sexist, and only wants to make the video to manipulate the student population into believing he's a good person, since he's running unopposed.
Owen: (while filming) He can't be that bad, he knows everybody's names.
Zona: He's making them up. (Owen gives her a look) He just wants it to look friendly, without the tedious value of individualism!
  • Kick the Dog: While Micah isn't exactly portrayed as evil, he does hate pigeons, and is shown drop-kicking one in the pilot.
  • Kitschy Local Commercial: Most of Video Production Company's commercials are low budget. Their pitch video has a futuristic theme, though Ryan wanted to do pandas.
  • Laborious Laziness: Miss Gwen is desperate to have a break from her preschool class, but has "burned bridges" with more traditional child care people. She resorts to hiring others (such as the VPC team) under false pretenses then escaping unnoticed to the parking lot, leaving them stuck with the children.
  • Let Us Never Speak of This Again: How the VPC team responds to unsettling events:
    • Mr. Gandolfini preparing them for the gala in "CrossFit"
    • Devin and Micah's Accidental Kiss in "Zona and Bike Boy"
  • Magical Girl: Ryan parodies this, complete with his own magical transformation sequence, when cooking soup for his sick friends.
  • Mean Character, Nice Actor: Mr. Pecs in his commercials for his gym is the typical lunkish, boasting bodybuilder. In real life the guy is an absolute sweetheart.
  • Medal of Dishonor: In "Power Outage," Micah is forced to wear a hat with the word "SHAME" written all over it repeatedly and stand in the "shame corner" while the others turn their backs to him. Zone is later subjected to the same treatment as punishment for her room-clearing fart.
  • Mistaken Age: In "Student Body President," a teacher accidentally believes that Ryan is a student and chastises him for loitering in the halls instead of being in class. By the end of the episode, he's the most popular "student" in the school, to the point that he's nominated for homecoming king and the school mascot is changed to "The Ryans."
  • Mondegreen Gag: Ryan sings the wrong lyrics to "You're the Best Around" in "Karate!"
  • Mushroom Samba: The VPC gang experiences this when they drink a sports beverage called "Mr. Pec's Peck Juice" which turns out to be expired.
  • Musical Episode: In "Legend Quest," the crew is hired to work at a Medieval-style theme park, and are required by contract to break into song.
  • My Friends... and Zoidberg: The VPC crew is surprised and flattered when the Doodles Chips co-CEOs say they're big fans. Then Devin asks, "Even Owen?"
  • My God, You Are Serious!: After thinking Zona is joking about the rundown vending machine, Bike Boy Jim is somewhat disturbed that she's actually okay with the sketchy selection.
  • Mystery Meat: Beef'n'Stuff Barbecue, the restaurant that Devin is editing an ad for in "Power Outage."
Zona: I thought the "stuff" was, like, their sides — you know, like mac-n-cheese.
Owen: They don’t offer sides at Beef'n'Stuff.
Zona: Oh, man... I ate a lot of their beef.
Owen: Or a lot of their stuff.
Micah: Yeah, I'm just gonna say it, 'cause we're all thinking it: Zona ate a person!
  • Nap-Inducing Speak: Micah falls asleep while filming an office safety video because Frank Butts is so boring.
  • Near-Death Experience: The VPC crew find themselves in Limbo on Christmas, and visited by three ghostly beings, showing how their actions both ruined their clients businesses, yet also inadvertently improved their lives.
  • Nobody Calls Me "Chicken"!: Downplayed in "Learn, Fun, Can." Owen responds very negatively to being called a chicken by one of the preschoolers, but ultimately does nothing but bluster because he's intimidated by her.
  • No-Holds-Barred Beatdown: Devin gives one to the VPC guys, whom she believes are the ones who messed with her scooter. They did not recognize each other because they were all wearing masks.
  • No Good Deed Goes Unpunished: Ryan, after witnessing a woman leaving her car unlocked, goes to lock it for her, given that a string of grand theft auto is going on in the neighborhood. Except the car is a plant, and the woman is an undercover cop, leading to both him and Micah being brought in on suspicion of being the car thieves.
  • No Name Given: Owen's last name (Darby) was revealed in the third episode of the first season ("Karate!"). We didn't find out the last names of Devin (Mann), Micah (Pratchet), and Ryan (McCloud) until the season two episode "Wheel of Challenges." Only Zona's last name (Goodwin) was known right away; it was spoken in the very first sentence of the pilot.
  • Noodle Incident: The VPC crew was evicted from their first house for having too many pets. A Cutaway Gag has someone mentioning that they were running "some kind of monkey sweatshop."
Devin: They weren't pets, they were employees!
  • Not So Above It All: Micah isn't very impressed by the haunted house in "Circus Berserkus" until it pushes his Berserk Button.
    • Zona is usually the Only Sane Man of the group, but her own eccentricities can often pop up from time to time, especially in the episode "Karate".
  • Offscreen Teleportation: Petunia the Creepy Doll is pretty much guaranteed to move the instant she is out of frame.
  • Off the Wagon: Ryan falls hard back into his crayon addiction in "Learn, Fun, Can."
  • Perpetual Poverty: The five main characters are continually broke, and their production company is constantly on the brink of shutting down.
  • Poverty Food: Devin's white-bread-and-milk-in-a-bag breakfast.
  • Power Outage Plot: The power goes out just as Devin finishes editing one of their commercials and stays that way for at least five days while the gang tries to figure out how to recover their project.
  • Product Placement: JK! Studios depended on a product placement deal with Etison LLC (and Patreon) to finance season one of the show. The swag for their ClickFunnels brand is prominently displayed, Ryan's wardrobe in particular being made up exclusively of all the logo t-shirts Devin ordered in "Cursed". (Each episode also ended with a brief ad for their "Freelancer Secrets" web site.) The show switched to an investment crowdfunding model for season two.
  • Pungeon Master: Joan from Krispy Kreme makes donut-themed puns almost constantly.
  • Reading Lips: Zona attempts to quietly communicate with Owen this way in the pilot during a commercial shoot. It takes a while for Owen to get the message.
  • Refuge in Audacity: After the Tesla representative responds negatively to VPC's pitch video in the pilot, Zona says, "So what's it going to be? Would you like to hire us for your next ad or not?" Her tone suggests that she believes the answer will be "yes," although she's really just desperate.
  • Repeated Rehearsal Failure: At the end of a jingle, Micah is supposed to whisper the name of the dating app they're advertising, Love Match Supreme. Every time they practice, he whispers "Love Match Surprise" instead, claiming it's a stylistic choice. When the others call him out and tell him they can't blow this pitch in front of the CEO, he insists he remembers the words and will sing the correct lyrics at the pitch. He does not.
  • School Idol: Ryan, after being mistaken for a student, quickly becomes the most popular person at the high school. So much so they change the mascot to "The Ryans."
  • Shout-Out
Owen: You're the best around / Nothin's ever want to birthday clown.
    • In "Student Body President," we learn that the whole VPC crew has Cuteness Proximity when it comes to Bernie Sanders.
    • In the same episode, Devin is concerned that her prominent forehead makes her look like "Stephen King's It." Micah thinks it would be more accurate to say that It would be concerned about looking like her.
  • Show Within a Show: "Divorced Detective, MD" in "Learn, Fun, Can." We even get to see the Title Sequence over the closing credits.
  • Sick Episode: "Barber Tom" in which all of the VPC crew, sans Zona, catch their client's illness.
  • Static Electricity: In "Power Outage," the gang attempts to use this to power their computer so they can finish editing an ad during a blackout. They only succeed in making Ryan's hair stand on end.
  • Stepford Smiler: The people brainwashed by the Doodles Chips cult.
  • Stylistic Suck: Out-of-universe, the pitch video that VPC presents to Tesla in the pilot is intentionally terrible. In-universe, VPC is at least attempting to present it as being of high quality.
  • Suspiciously Specific Denial: The Doodles Chips co-CEOs are very insistent that they "are not a cult."
  • Take Our Word for It: Merlin, Zona's date in "Love Match Supreme Part 2," is described as being incredibly ugly, so much so that everyone who sees his profile photo on the Love Match Supreme app reacts in horror. When he actually appears, he is only shown from behind, as no real live actor could live up to his supposed hideousness.
Zona: Ah! Ah ha! I got a ma... atch.
All: (shocked by his profile photo) Oh!
    Ryan: (whispering) Saints deliver us.
Micah: He's got, like, a moon head... but it's waning.
Ryan: His few teeth are very evenly spaced.
Owen: Yeah, he's got all the right features... in all the wrong places.
Devin: It's like his eyes are avoiding eye contact with each other.
Zona: Maybe it's the angle? (swipes to another photo)
    All: OH!!
Ryan: (whimpering) My eyes feel like they have hair on them.

Mr. Doyle: AAGGHH!! What am I looking at?!? Am I upside-down, or is his face? You look like Shrek, but, like a, like a bootleg Chinese copy. Is this what they saw in Bird Box?

Ryan: (surprised) What's wrong with his butt?!
  • Take That!: After catching their client, William, cheating on his test on camera.
Zona: What are you doing? You can't expect people to turn a blind eye to blatant wrong-doing! This isn't Hollywood in the 1920s.
    Devin: Or today.
  • There Was a Door: In "Student Body President," Devin's mind melon points out that the cage was a simple deadbolt, and that she had the key in her hand, after she blows it up with a magic staff.
  • Those Two Guys: Micah and Ryan are often paired together in the group's outrageous antics.
  • Toilet Humor:
    • Apparently Owen lost full control during Devin's assault.
Owen: That alleyway is a health hazard now!
    • Zona clears the house with her gas in "Power Outage."
    • During the group hug challenge, the crew wake up to find they have all peed themselves.
  • Troubling Unchildlike Behavior: Downplayed in "Learn, Fun, Can," where one of the preschool kids acts like a drug dealer, but his product is crayons. Unfortunately, Ryan is addicted to eating them.
  • Unfortunate Names: Frank Butts. His last name causes Micah, Devin, and Ryan to giggle at it.
  • Unishment: Ryan is quickly won over by Petunia, the Creepy Doll, because she comes with a lollipop every time she appears. He's heartbroken when the curse is broken.
  • Unnecessary Combat Roll: For some reason, Micah does this repeatedly when sent by Zona to locate Miss Gwen in "Learn, Fun, Can."
  • Unstoppable Rage: When Devin discovers three masked men she believes to be responsible for tipping her scooter, she single-handedly beats up all three... not realizing that they're her innocent co-workers. Among other things, she flattens Ryan with a trash can, bites Micah on the shoulder like a rabid animal, and tasers Owen for a ridiculously long time.
  • Very Loosely Based on a True Story: The show focuses on a group of broke friends working together to produce videos. In real life, most of the cast members left relatively stable jobs on BYUtv's Studio C to start a private venture from the ground up, though much more successfully than the members of VPC.
  • Voice of the Legion: Zona, briefly, while suffering the repercussions of donating plasma eight times in one day.
  • Wounded Gazelle Gambit: During the boxing match in "Wheel of Challenges", Ryan acts pensive and regretful that Micah goes to comfort him...
Ryan: MIKE TYSON SURPRISE! (bites Micah's ear)

Next season?

Zona says they're going to make a movie if the show has another season. Ryan doesn't understand.

How well does it match the trope?
