Have you ever wondered what it would be like if Shrek was in Fallout 4? Or if Kermit the Frog was in Half-Life 2? No? Well one Youtuber did, and will show the answer.

eli_handle_b.wav is a YouTube channel known for creating videos wherein popular film and television characters are edited into popular video games. Their channel launched in 2021 and can be found here.

    Mashups found on this channel

eli_handle_b.wav’s videos include examples of the following:

  • Adaptational Badass:
    • In his Half-Life 2 mashup, Kermit is seen fighting off Combine enemies with a machine gun.
    • In his Fallout 4 mashup, Garfield is shown to be able to create nuclear explosions with his body.
    • Shrek was already a strong character in his own franchise, but in Fallout 4, he’s able to take down The Prydwen with a champagne bottle.
    • Sid in God of War is able to kill a mugger using a giant broccoli, while in the original context, Sid's scene with the broccoli was just an Imagine Spot
  • Adaptational Context Change: Videos usually maintain dialogues without altering them, but in contexts in which they obtain a different meaning.
  • Adaptational Heroism: In his Detroit: Become Human mashup, Ted, ordinarily a snarky, self-interested bear is quick to defend Alice from Todd before eventually ending up a major figure in the robot resistance.
  • Adaptational Nice Guy: Thanks to some editing, the antisemitism held by Borat is translated into disdain towards RE4’s cult.
  • Adaptational Species Change: Lt. Frank Drebin, thanks to the edit of a light onto his temple, goes from a human to one of the robots native to Detroit: Become Human.
  • All Just a Dream: It is implied that the events of Woody in RDR2 were all in the imagination of the child seen playing with a Woody doll at the end of the video.
  • Ambiguously Bi: Mr. Bean in Cyberpunk 2077, as he seems to show some interest in the male "joytoy", in addition to being attracted to a woman who is wearing a tight diving suit.
  • Composite Character: Frank Drebin in Detroit: Become Human, replaces two different playable characters. (Connor and Markus)
  • Crouching Moron, Hidden Badass:
    • Many characters who can give the impression of being fools (Like Jesse Pinkman or Ace Ventura), when push comes to shove, prove to be as competent, or at least as dangerous, as the characters they are replacing.
    • Sid in God of War for much of the video acts like a jester, but when they are ambushed by a group of raiders, Sid is able to kill one, using only a giant broccoli.
  • Deadpan Snarker: A good rule of thumb is: is the character was already a snarker in their original film or show, expect them to be this in the mashup. Case in point, Shrek’s reaction to being offered power armor is to ask if it comes in men’s sizes.
  • Medium Blending: Either live-action humans are composited into CG video games, or stylised CG characters are transplanted into more realistic CG styled settings.
  • Mood Whiplash: The opening of Shrek in Fallout 4
SOMEBODY ONCE TOLD ME THE war never changes…
  • Soundtrack Dissonance: In Michael Scott’s Mass Effect appearance, the opening notes of The Office theme plays over footage of alien ships attacking a city.
  • Uncertain Doom: At the end of his Half-Life 2 mashup, Kermit is caught and wounded in an ambush, with the video ending with Alyx weeping over him and no indication of his fate.
