"Like People, all worlds die. However, the problem isn't that they are dying - it's that they are now dying unnaturally. Their timelines are being disrupted, which in turn disrupts the life upon the planet."

Vital Spark is a Original Character Tournament. It is hosted by Uno along with two other judges - Ed and Eva. The story begins with Lord Drakonius Agememnon Fortunidia Dionsian Servantilius The Third, Lord of Darkness, Master of Blood, and Emperor of Charred Souls, noticing a most unsettling event: Worlds are dying. In a most peculiar and unnatural way - leaving only a tiny spark of life. If it was only a single planet, it would be of much less dire importance. In his usual nonchalant way, Drakonius chooses a tournament as the most viable option to return the missing energy to the individual worlds - and save time and energy on his part. As seen in the Prologue, Drakonius and his colleagues Raymond, Ciro and Fiona, then take off to find contestants from worlds all across The Multiverse.

The plot then follows that if a character (or set of two characters) decide to enter the tournament, they will be granted their deepest desire - whether it be simply having extreme luck or money, to ruling a world or possibly bringing the dead back to life. Each contestant was given a Spark Gem in which to insert their powers and then promptly wisked away to the Rest House where they must remain until the end of the tournament. The only way out is through Paintings around the buildings.

Auditions Closed the 23rd of December in 2011.

"NPC" / Judge Tropes

Drakonius

Raymond

  • All Work vs. All Play: The other half of the trope with Drakonius. All Work, obviously.
  • Schedule Fanatic: "I thought I would schedule my recruiting a bit due to including tours in the Rest House. And, of course, it wouldn't be a problem, but now I don't have 'scheduling things' in my schedule..."
  • Son of a Whore: Bonus points because Raymond's father - the king of that world - was her customer. He is none too embarrassed over this, but still opts out of talking about his life Before Drakonius.

Fiona

Ciro

  • Hair-Trigger Temper: One wrong word, and he'll beat your ass through a portal. Or rip your face off. Or break all your fingers. Or... you get the idea.

Contestant Tropes

These Contestants are listed in no particular order.

Amirabelle and Keegan

  • Our Sirens Are Different: While not a full blooded Siren herself, Amirabelle is at least descended from them and possesses many of their qualities

Winter

Somewhere

Evil

Howl

  • The Trickster: Everything is an act with Howl. Whether he is smiling or frowning, there is always more to it than one may think.

Conrad Lehrer

  • Power Incontinence: Conrad suffers from painful migraines, and when that happens, he looses control of his mental powers.
  • Psychic Powers: A chip implanted in his brain opened Conrad's mind and allows him to access a plethora of psychic abilities.
  • Religious Bruiser: Not only did he pray to his God at the end of his audition, but he also got his Spark Gem attached to a rosary.
  • Younger Than They Look: The operations performed on him to enhance his mental prowess aged him significantly in a short amount of time.

Lucky

Zasha Louis

  • Half-Human Hybrid: Her father was a shape-shifting hellhound, while her mother was human.
  • Reluctant Monster: Despite being a demon hybrid, she's usually very kind. Usually.
  • Talking Animal: Averted. In Doberman form, she cannot speak to anything but other dogs.

Sazial

Hssk and Brumbu

  • Bond Creatures: Plays straight with Brumbu, as her species was bonded to Hssk's years before the two met.
  • Intellectual Animal: Hssk's species, the Krassk, is the dominant species on his planet, capable of rational thought and problem-solving… tempered nicely with natural instincts and irrational ideas.
