The Little Painter is an animated Web video by Kenny Roy.

A long time ago, there were two kingdoms in France that had been at war for a long time. On one side was King Croissant, and his son the snidely Prince Deja Vu. On the other side was King Souffle, and his daughter princess Creme Brule. In King Croissant's court was a small painter named Pierre Bon Voyage Et Fromage, who was widely regarded for his artistic skills.

One day, Pierre suggests to King Croissant that Prince Deja Vu marry Princess Creme Brule to end the war between them. Prince Deja Vu, however, refuses on the grounds that since no one has seen Princess Creme Brule, there's a chance she might be hideous. So, King Croissant sends Pierre to paint a portrait of the princess. When Pierre sees Creme Brule, it's Love at First Sight for him.

The video was funded on Kickstarter on March 28th, 2012, and released on July 24th, 2015. It can be viewed on Vimeo here, and on the video's own website.

The Little Painter provides examples of:

  • Blowing a Raspberry: Prince Deja Vu does this to the viewer while he's being described.
  • Censor Box: One appears over the troll's mouth when describing what he would do to the woman in Pierre's portrait.
  • Dedication: There's one at the beginning for Kenny's sons. It says "To my sons, May the pursuit of your dreams lead you to true love".
  • Gag Nose: Most, if not all, of the cast have some pretty big noses.
  • Knighting: Pierre is knighted for getting rid of the bridge troll.
  • Love at First Sight: Pierre is immediately smitten with Princess Creme Brule when he sees her.
  • Love Floats: Pierre leaves the ground and flutters a bit upon seeing Creme Brule.
  • Narrative Profanity Filter: What the troll says when he finds the woman in Pierre's ugly portrait of Creme Brule...
Narrator: Uh, he said some things I can't repeat.
  • Prince Charmless: Prince Deja Vu. He prefers eating, drinking, and fencing, and is generally portrayed as a very unpleasant person.
  • Princesses Prefer Pink: Princess Creme Brule wears a pink dress.
  • Troll Bridge: Pierre is sent to one at Prince Deja Vu's request as punishment for tricking him and King Croissant into thinking that Princess Creme Brule was ugly.
