The main character is David Callan from Callan
- Same actor, lot of similarities between the two shows.
- Also, we never learn the details of Robert McCall's Dark and Troubled Past. Who's to say he wasn't Callan?
- Also, the name 'David Callan' wasn't the character's real name, which is not revealed in that show.
- Unlikely however as Callan was a working class man whose parents were killed in WW2 whilst McCall is very obviously upper class whose parents had a different fate.
Season 1 recurring antagonist Jason Masur is actually Arthur Weisfeld (a.k.a. Artie Nielsen from Warehouse 13)
- Again, same actor and somewhat similar characters (intelligence officers during the Cold War).
Given their nearly similar age and skillset...
- McCall and Bryan Mills were a part of the same team, and because of some world-threatening event they must reunite.
- Though given McCall's age, perhaps he was Bryan's mentor as well as his teammate?
- Applicable to the film: In a similar vein, given the age difference and similar ability to improvise, McCall was trained by MacGyver when MacGyver was still an active intelligence agent.
