Dr. Eggman: "Welcome to the Wild Mass Guessing page, home of the ever-popular crackpot theory of the day. Waste time with your pathetic friends discussing ridiculous possibilities."

The Ultimate remaster will include the Sonic Generations versions of Planet Wisp and Tropical Resort as selectable music.

In Ultimate, The Egg Shuttle will function as a Harder Than Hard mode, akin to Super Hard mode in Sonic Heroes.
It will be unlocked after getting all S ranks, and will involve going through harder versions of all 45 levels (maybe more if new levels get added), in successionnote . Like Super Hard mode, you would be able to save your progress after every level, but if you lost all your lives, you would have to start back from the first level. Unlike the aforementioned mode, the Egg Shuttle will include harder versions of bosses, and not just the regular levels.

  • Jossed, the Egg Shuttle functions the exact same way as it does in the original. The only thing worth mentioning about it is that you get an achievement/trophy for finishing it.

Metal Sonic will be unlockable
A picture on Famitsu hints at Tails being playable, and with Metal Sonic making a surprise return, beating all his races could unlock him.

  • Sadly, Tails won't be playable; the Tails icon is for the Tails Save feature. However, whether Metal Sonic will still be playable remains to be seen.
    • Jossed. Metal Sonic isn’t playable, but he can be made playable through mods.

There will be bonus levels with Sonic’s friends
These will be new challenges in the Wii style with the interactions from the DS version. They may not be given full cutscenes, but just text dialogue like most handheld games and Team Sonic Racing.
  • Jossed. At most, Sonic’s friends appear as unlockable avatars on the player’s save file.

In Ultimate, the Final Boss will use all of the wisps, including the new Jade Ghost wisp
In the original, only the Laser, Cube, Spikes, and Frenzy wisps were used. The remaster will use all the wisps in its attacks.

  • Yellow Drill: A drill will burst through the floor, fly into the air, and burrow back into the floor, before coming back up again. The drill will continue this sequence in a sine wave pattern.
  • Orange Rocket: Rocket-shaped projectiles will be launched at Sonic and explode on impact.
  • Green Hover: A shockwave will make Sonic float off the ground (similar to how he floats when lifted up by the air current from fans) and in the path of asteroids.
  • Jade Ghost: A will-o-wisp will fly around the screen. If Sonic makes contact with it, he will turn invisible for a brief period of time, making it harder to dodge obstacles, due to the player being unable to see where he is.

    • Sadly, Jossed. The final boss remains unchanged. They didn’t even add the Jade Wisp to Sonic’s Final Color Blaster.
