WMG / Minions

Go To

Herb is Vector's maternal uncle and Vector actively tried to emulate his coolness and inventions.

Herb is related to the Perkins'
He could be Vector's uncle or some other relation.

Scarlet and Herb are Gru's parents or grandparents.
They have the same noses. Gru inherited the Minions from them or grew his own based on them.

Notice that Scarlet's Jet seen in the trailer, is similar to Gru's. down to having a vague L shape with a pointy tip at he front and bottom. Gru also inherited his jet from her.

  • Not just that but Scarlet and Herb both have long, pointy noses - a trait Gru is very notable for.
  • Jossed. Gru makes a sudden appearance near the end, stealing the Queen's crown from Scarlet, and to a lesser extent, dethroning her as the number one villain.

This universe runs on old school comic book superhero rules.
Ones where villains are bad enough to be a credible threat but gimmick-y and cool enough to have their own fan-base and convention.

If Megamind was set in the same universe, he would totally dominate Villain Con.
But he would totally mispronounce "Orlando" as "Or Land Do."

If The Incredibles was set in the same universe...
The Nelsons would fight against the Incredibles. C'mon a family of supercriminals against a family of superheroes?
  • One of the villians has a drill-tank like the Underminer.

Bob will stay with Scarlet Overkill

Trailers and other promotional material show Kevin and Stuart seemingly having second thoughts about Scarlet Overkill as a master, whereas Bob seems just fine with her.Chances are Bob will choose to stay with Scarlet while Kevin and Stuart leave, explaining why Bob has never been seen before or since. It will be a dramatic moment, presented as a Start of Darkness for Bob, and leading to a Bittersweet Ending, where while the Minions find Gru and are happy, they'll never see Bob again.

  • Jossed.

Kevin sacrifices his life to stop Scarlet.

During the opening of Despicable Me 1 we see a minion called Kevin; he looks nothing like this film's Kevin. He was named after this Kevin who died.

  • It's doubtful, because the wiki says that Kevin is the one in Despicable Me 2
  • Jossed. He survives.

Bob's green eye is an evolutionary mistake.
While the Minions were still single celled organisms, Bob's single cell evolved to try and match the same colored eyes as the others in his tribe. But unfortunately, something somewhat failed during when he evolved and it ended up giving him heterochromia once he flourished on land.

Bob's Teddy Bear isn't going to make it to the end.
Scarlet will cross the Moral Event Horizon by taking Bob's teddy bear, Tim, and destroying it right in front of him. It will lead to him having a Heroic BSoD that will end the second act of the movie and cause the audience to cry profusely.
  • Jossed. Kevin saves it and Bob is later seen carrying it when chasing after Gru.

Napoleon survived his accident
Fired the minions on the spot for incompetence and replaced them with tall men to serve as his Old Guard. The rest was history.

Gru made more Minions after they settled down with him.
Word of God stated prior to the release of the film that Gru created the Minions out of popcorn. But the film says that the Minions have been around since basically the beginning of life. It's possible that both ideas are true: after Gru took in the original Minions he cloned more of them in the name of expanding his business. And why not? They're versatile, durable and incredibly loyal.
  • Entirely possible since in Despicable Me, there is a considerable amount of Minions to fill an entire auditorium similar to that of Scarlet Overkill's stage at Villain-Con (10,400 of them if the poster of DM2 is to be believed), the amount of Minions in this film doesn't seem to be enough to fill the entire ground level of said auditorium.
  • However, all of the Minions became attached to Margo, Edith, and Agnes. So rather than forcing themselves to leave after Gru's heart change, they stayed so they can continue to play with the girls.

Scarlet and Herb Overkill are Lucy Wilde's parents.
Lucy adopted either Scarlet or Herb's maiden name, depending on which one changed their surname on marrying - it wouldn't be too farfetched for Herb to take on his beloved wife's name if Scarlet had already started her villainous career as "Overkill". (Academics and professionals do the same on publishing papers, after all.) Her slim build comes from both parents, but the nose is all Herb. And despite Scarlet and Herb being brunet(te)s, both carried the gene for red hair, resulting in Lucy's ginger locks.

The Minions weren't at the actual Abbey Road photo shoot.
It was just another day the Beatles were crossing the street to the studio, not the one the iconic picture was taken. That explains The Beatles being out of order with the wrong cars in the background. Alternatively, they were about to do the shoot, but the video we see was in the other direction as they crossed to the side of the street they were walking from on the cover of Abbey Road.
  • Or it was going to be, but the minion head popping out ruined the shot, and in the process of setting up the reshoot, cars came and left, and they changed the order of the Beatles.

If the Minions had joined Hitler before WW2, they would have killed him (accidentally) very early on and the war would have never gotten as bad as it did in Real Life.

Bob Stays in England
Liking England Bob stays in England meets a young Rowan Atkinson and serves as the inspiration for Mr. Bean.

The Minions did try to serve Hitler, but Hitler laughed at them and tried killing them

...will be a parody of (and/or a Take That! to) the Grand Finale of How I Met Your Mother, in which the whole movie turned out to be just one long story told by the now-adult Gru to Margo, Edith and Agnes in the present day.
