Mighty No. 4 will be Dishing Out Dirt.
I mean, seriously. What we've seen of him is so much like Guts Man, and it fits with the elemental theme of the first half of the Mighty Numbers.

Dr. Blackwell will not be the Big Bad.
I mean, having a counterpart named White and the (alleged) virus specifically affect robots that utilize the xel technology he pioneered? It seems pretty likely that he'll be a Dr. Wily expy... but maybe it's too obvious?
  • Confirmed. He's even the hero who saved the world from a potential Grey Goo apocalypse.

Dr. Blackwell will be framed by the real Big Bad.
Going by the above WMG, someone will try and frame Dr. Blackwell because either he hates the doctor's guts or otherwise is discontent with current affairs and wants to make a really drastic change to society. And just like in Mega Man, Beck and company will be none the wiser until he actually meets Dr. Blackwell.
  • Confirmed. It was actually the Corrupt Corporate Executive Gregory Graham who started the events of the game in the first place and he (or his predecessor(s)) has already framed him from a related past incident prior and thus he was locked away deep inside a high-tech prison. Now he's (or they) did it again but this time there's no Dr. Blackwell to fix their mess for them. Luckily there's still his son and his creation to do it for him.

The real villain will actually be Dr. White
Let's face it, this would make for a great plot twist, and Beck can even rebel against his creator if the plot calls for it, with Call saving Beck, or something.
  • Sort of but not really in the fact that he was the one who created the main antagonist in the first place. Luckily his father manages to deactivate her before it got worse. Unfortunately she was reactivated by Gregory Graham years later.
  • That said... A fair number of the things Dr. White does are troubling. He plays favourites with his creations, he refused to see his father while he was in prison until the events of this game even though the only reason he was in prison was because of Dr. White's neglect, and his comments at the end seem to indicate he cares more about proving his theories are right without particular care of the potential consequences. He probably won't try to take over the world, but he probably will unleash something that could destroy it (and no, Trinity does not count, he didn't unleash that one, though he admittedly did make her).

The Big Bad will actually be Dr. Sanda
And Call can actually be his Unwitting Pawn, acting as The Mole until Beck finds out and finds a way to free her from the Big Bad 's control, saving her from him.
  • Jossed. The "bad guy"note  for this game is Trinity who was reactivated by Graham.

The Big Bad will actually be all the doctors
There will be no definite Big Bad. All of the events that will transpire in the game will be caused by each of the doctors pushing their own personal agendas into the matter which would ultimately lead to Beck discovering their schemes and fighting one, some or all of the doctors. Alternatively the player could decide to side with a doctor and help them accomplish their plans, making the game have Multiple Endings depending on which side the player chose or even none at all.
  • Jossed. The one responsible isn't even a doctor.

The Big Bad will actually be Mighty No. 7
Comcept said that No. 7 will have a more important connection to the plot than the rest of the Mighty bosses. It's possible that this is one of them. One possible reason would be that he may have caused all of this to incite a Robot Uprising against the doctors and the rest of humanity, in his eyes, ending their tyranny and slavery to gain independence or in a more villainous light, reverse the tables and dominate humanity themselves.
  • Jossed.

Call's other designs will be alluded to in some way.
Perhaps they could be other existing models her creator made, or beta designs. They could also be alluded to as Call's "sisters" akin to the X-J series.
  • Someone of the forums did throw out the idea of the other designs being unlockable skins for her, or at least one of them being a disguise she wears or an outfit she changes out of into her current form before her level starts.
    • There were some theories over what roles any of the Calls would take if added into the game. D, for example, would be villainous due to her resemblance to Dr. Wily, and perhaps succumb to the plague. E was also speculated to appear at some point as "Echo" as stated on the Trivia page.
  • Confirmed. The developers mentioned that the unused Call designs will appear in the game.
    • Well, one of them did, anyway. Call D was used for Trinity's new body.

In addition to the nine Mighty Numbers, there's also a Mighty No. 0.
No. 0 would be a good concept for a boss with similar transformation powers to the hero. He might also have the ability to steal your powers and use them against you. Perhaps he'll be the true Big Bad, or The Dragon or rival you face just before the last boss.
  • Confirmed so far as a "potential bonus DLC", but we'll see how this plays out...
    • Not quite. 0, real name "Ray", was stated to not be a part of the Mighty Numbers. This isn't a complete joss as there still could be a Mighty No. 0, but Ray isn't said No. 0.
      • In retrospect, this makes sense. "Mighty Number" is the name of the team of gladiator robots. If Ray isn't a Mighty Number, that simply means she was never a part of the team.
      • However, Ray was the long lost sister model of the Mighty Numbers, and was one of Dr. White's other attempts at creating robot being capable of manipulating xels before getting to work on creating Beck. She also felt regretful from stealing xels from the Mighty Number who she called by "brothers and sisters" to find the answers she's searching for during her DLC campaign .

The boss weakness circle is as such...
8 -> 7 -> 4 -> 5 -> 6 -> 1 -> 2 - >3 -> 8
8's specialty is very long range fighting, which would put him and his abilities at quite an advantage against the strictly short-range 7. 7's swiftness and high damage output would provide an edge against the slow and lumbering 4. In turn, the ground makes a good shield against 5's artillery, which is perfect weaponry against a foe that takes to the air like 6. From this point onwards, I have to remember that Inafune thinks in a type chart that doesn't correspond completely to Pokémon (which threw me off many times playing the Mega Man games, as I started playing those after Pokémon). Winds from 6's attacks can put out 1's flames. If I remember correctly, 2 has both water and ice powers, and his powers would be neutralized if you could turn it to steam. Water can short-circuit 3's electricity, and finally, electricity can travel faster than 8's bullets.

Admittedly, I have not been following this game that much, so there's probably a thing or two or eight that I would obviously have wrong to someone who has been eyeing this game closer than me.

  • Your Elemental Rock-Paper-Scissors feels a little backwards, at least so far as "Fire beats Water and Water beats Electricity" goes. My own impression would be more along the lines of "Earth (4) nullifies Electricity (3) ->Electricity shocks Water (2) ->Water douses Fire (1) ->Fire melts Firearms (5) ->Firearms overwhelm Ninja (7) ->Ninja ambushes Sniper (8) ->Sniper shoots down Aircraft (6) ->Aircraft bomb Earth."
    • All of the above has been jossed: The actual cycle is: 8 ->6 ->1 ->2 ->5 ->4 ->7 ->3, and this is for both Beck and Ray.

The final boss will be Mighty No. 10.
Using backup data of each of the Mighty No.s and many Xels, the Big Bad creates a Mighty No. 10 with each of the MightyNo.s' abilities. Beck has to face up to the Mighty No. 10, using everything he's learned up to that point.
  • Jossed. There is no Mighty No. 10. Not yet anyway.

Mighty No. 0 was built before Xels came into existence.
Comcept has recently released a "Potential Bonus DLC Teaser" showing a concept of what appears to be a "Mighty No. 0". If the audience makes it a reality, then here's a plausible backstory for him. No. 0 was an early prototype battle robot that Dr. White was working on before Dr. Blackwell created the Xel framework. White abandoned 0 and created the current Mighty Numbers using Xels. When Blackwell unleashed his virus, 0 was somehow among the robots corrupted by it. Based on the teaser, 0 is implied to be a Super Prototype, hence the imagery of the fallen Mighty Numbers. Beck can't copy 0's form because 0 is not a Xel-based robot.
  • Jossed. Her name is Ray and she isn't even a Mighty Number (let alone No. 0). She's a Xel-based robot, but one that's missing the "Xel core" that causes them to take a fixed form. As such, Ray's body is constantly breaking down, forcing her to absorb Xels in order to stay alive. ...Oh yeah, Ray's also a girl, since female pronouns were used to refer to her, and concept art shows breasts on her figure.

Ray is a prototype of No. 0.
Look at all these hints about Ray! There's a zero missing in the bottom row during the interface screw in her DLC trailer. Her name is a pun on the Japanese word "rei", which means 'zero'. But what if that was to throw us off? She might be a test prototype for the REAL No. 0. What if... her unrelatedness to the Mighty Nos is for that reason too?
  • Jossed. She is the original prototype of No. 9, followed by Trinity, and then Beck.

The other Call designs will be used as bosses to test Call's combat worthiness in her stage.
This will also result in an amusing throwback to Mega Man, with Design D using a Wily Capsule-esque machine.
  • Jossed, at least as far as Call D goes. Her design was used for Trinity's new body after her defeat. On the other hand, it could happen in a potential second game, but of course, that's up to Keiji Inafune.

Ray doesn't just want revenge.
Think about it. She needs to absorb other robots to stay alive, right? Well, what would happen if she were to absorb a robot who has the exact same powers as her, except he FUNCTIONS correctly? It would likely reverse the deterioration.
  • She doesn't. She just wants answers.note 

Beck and Call are Legacy Characters and share the same universe as Red Ash.

The lack of a concrete design for Dr. Blackwell is intentional on Comcept's part.
It's been mentioned before that the story isn't going to be a black and white story of good and evil, and the best way to illustrate that is the supposed villain Blackwell not being such. But even if he isn't the villain, we don't even know for sure what he LOOKS like. ...But are we even supposed to know? Perhaps Dr. Blackwell doesn't even APPEAR in the game, and (as has been theorized by others) the blame being shifted onto him potentially covers up the fact that maybe, just maybe... something bad happened to Blackwell himself...
  • Jossed, in that he does have a concrete design. Call's stage involves her and Dr. Sanda breaking into the prison where he is being kept in order to ask him about Trinity.

The "Masterclass" trailer was referencing lines from the game.
It was really meant to drop hints at what some of the characters say in the game (i.e., in cutscenes, etc). Trailers do that sometimes. It was never intended to turn out the way it ended up doing.note  With this in mind...
  • Jossed. None of the offending remarks are anywhere in the game.

Gregory Graham (or some other "villain" character) is the one who says the "anime fan on prom night" line.
Furthermore, he also says the "awesome things that are awesome" line. Additionally, both will likely happen in cutscenes.
  • Both of the above have been jossed.note 

The Bosses in future games...
Will either be legitimately violent robots who have varying reasons to, a failed attempt by Trinity to create new robots, or robots forced into being villains in an attempt to ruin the standing of Ridiculously Human Robots.

The other two states in the Union.
In the intro, it was mentioned that there were 52 states of America instead of the actual 50. This is the list of potential candidates for which two locations would be those other two states in the game's universe:

  • Puerto Rico
  • Washington DC, having become a city state separate from Maryland
  • Long Island, having separated from New York to become its own state
  • California being split up into two or more states
  • U.S. Virgin Islands
  • Navassa Island

Ray is a Xel Cyborg.
Ray was Dr. Blackwell's daughter and Dr. White's (then Bill Blackwell) sister who got into a horrific accident. In desperation they attempted to save her life by infusing her with Xels to repair her grievous injuries, replace her broken organs and to keep her mangled body together in one piece. The experiment worked but unfortunately, with Xel technology still being in its infancy back then and the fact that nobody has even attempted a Human/Xel infusion before, just keeping her alive is costing a great toll on the Xels requiring to be periodically injected with a new batch of Xels until they can find a more efficient way of keeping her alive. As time passes by her body required more and more Xels as more and more of her organic cells die off and deteriorate. Errors started occurring and the Xels started transform and mutate unnatural things on her body such as large metal claws and sharp fangs. Eventually it wasn't enough to sustain her and her heart begins to painfully thump. She loses her sanity and went berserk inside the laboratory where she was being kept. The destruction was so bad that the facility was evacuated and most of the building collapses with her still inside only to reawaken years later, with her memories almost entirely gone due to the massive trauma both physically and mentally, and begin hunting Xel robots with the abandoned laboratory serving as her hidden layer.
  • Jossed: In Ray's DLC story, it turns out that she is a xel core-based robot that Dr. White created before he developed the Mighty Numbers and Beck with a malfunctioning core, and her deterioration and endless hunger for xels is due to said malfunction.

Dr. Blackwell never protested his innocence for fear of getting William
in trouble.One would think that he would have tried to raise a fuss about how he did his cyber-terrorism attack to stop a dangerous and unstoppable robot. However, because Trinity was built by his son, he didn't want to risk getting him in trouble even though he had the project stopped and it was Mr. Graham that unleashed her the first time.
  • Confirmed: Gregory Graham did reactivate Trinity, despite the warnings not to, but he only did to create bad publicity for Dr. Blackwell which would help bring him some attention and money to his company.

The other unused Call designs exists in-canon as other models of Call.
Inside Sanda's laboratory, various holographic windows are displayed on the walls of the room showing schematics and designs for various robots both seen in-game and unseen. Among these are schematics of the other unused designs for Call. Each are labeled as "CALL" along with a unique identifying serial number underneath. This could mean that Call's model series is either mass produced or are past or future models of Call.

    Meta WMG 
There will be a crossover with Mega Man at some point.
Because seriously, I can't not see this happening.
  • Well, I can see fanfiction crossovers happening.

Alternately, there will be a crossover with Shantae.
Hey, they're kickstarter buddies. Why not? Besides, there are fanarts of them together, and some people even ship them.
  • It helps that Inti Creates is working on both games.
  • People also tend to associate Shovel Knight with those two, so he could be in a crossover too.

Beck will be voiced by Cole Howard.

The game will be delayed past its current February release date, because Comcept wants to produce a line of Mighty No 9 amiibo.
Because, let's face it, at this point it's not all that far-fetched.
  • Admittedly wouldn't be surprising, but at the same time who says they can't just make them after the game is released?
    • Comcept might be trying to avoid falling into the "release a game now, fix any bugs later" crowd that other companies have: They want to make sure EVERYTHING is in perfect working order before releasing the game.

Possible reasons for the delay; lack of updates:
As of this writing, it is now April, and there haven't been any updates for almost three months. Assuming the game isn't being cancelled altogether, there are three possible reasons (both of which are the worst case scenario):
  • Capcom is pursuing legal action against themnote , and they can't or won't tell anyone, even their backers.
    • They game is being given a makeover/overhaul of some kind that will be dramatically different from the demo (at least).
    • A combination of the above, possibly with the second possibility being a result of the first (an even worse case scenario).
      • All of the above has officially been Jossed, as the game (in its current, original form) was later announced to have officially gone gold, and was announced for release on June 21st (North America; Asia) and June 24th (everywhere else), with the Nintendo 3DS and Playstation Vita versions to come later.
      • The Nintendo 3DS and PlayStation Vita versions being missing in action, another possible reason is the fact that development on these two versions had to be restarted from scratch using a new engine, according to a comment on the official (non-Kickstarter) website on the article announcing the new release date. The handheld ports were eventually confirmed in a Kickstarter backer update they'll be released at some point in 2017 after months of silence that involved a merger with Level-5, which halted progress with the ports' development team, but were able to resume development of said ports when the merger was in agreement.

It will suffer backlash, resulting in TV Tropes having to put an edit lock on the page - especially when some people start saying it is THE game of 2016.
  • The backlash has been confirmed. The edit lock thing is jossed, for now.

The criticism / backlash is, at least in part, a smear campaign secretly being organized by Capcom.
They don't want one of their former employees (namely Keiji Inafune) or his Mega Man-like project to be successful, and since they (apparently) can't sue him, they've decided instead to try to give this game a bad rep online, so people would come "crying" back to them for a new Mega Man gamenote . Indeed, Capcom could even be doing this in order to turn attention towards their upcoming collaboration with Man of Action.note 
  • It seems far-fetched for all of Capcom's staff to instigate something like that to keep Mighty No. 9 and Inafune from having any success at all, but it seems possible that Hideki Kamiya still harbors a grudge against Inafune as there was speculation of Kamiya blaming him for losing his job at Capcom, despite the fact that Kamiya still has employment and success at Platinum. It's also seems unlikely that Capcom wanted to make people "cry" back to Mega Man as other Mega Man-like games not by Capcom has been getting unanimous "praise" after Mighty No. 9 has been berated by critics and disappointed backers.
  • Probably confirmed after the announcement of Mega Man 11. During the Mega Man 30th Anniversary livestream, although Capcom and the developers of Mega Man 11 weren't encouraging kicking down Inafune after Mighty No. 9 failed and were aware how the Mega Man franchise fell through some hard times without him, the Capcom Unity panel during the livestream however were actively throwing Inafune under the bus after the game's reveal and throwing backhanded remarks towards Mighty No. 9, and those already circle-jerking Mega Man 11 as if it suddenly absolves Capcom's past transgressions with the Mega Man franchise (e.g. canceling 3 major Mega Man gamesnote , blamed fans for Mega Man Legends 3's cancellation, released Rockman Xover in a desperate attempt to appease fans which quickly became wildly despised for not being a proper Mega Man game, and releasing a series of broken mobile ports of Mega Man 1-6 the same year as Mighty No. 9 was released, despite having already released the first Legacy Collection a year prior which did everything those mobile ports did except far better and is available for the Nintendo 3DS and Switch for those looking to play Mega Man on the go).

Dr. White is Keiji Inafune's self-insert.
  • In the events of the game, it's revealed that Dr. White (Inafune) used to work at a big company (Cherry Dynamics/Capcom) and that he quitted after his dream project (Trinity/Mega Man) got cancelled. From there he went to work on his own company (Sanda Labs/Comcept) and try to revive his dream under a new creation (Beck, the Mighty No. 9, both in canon and in meta).
    • In an even more meta way, Mighty No. 9 actually predicted the return of Mega Man, and how it would actually take some inspiration from Mighty No. 9 itself and make a comeback. This is parallel to the final boss battle, where Trinity starts to develop awareness by her Xel being absorbed by Beck.
    • So perhaps RAY is meant to represent J.J. Rockets? A previous Mega Man-inspired game created by Inafune made as a short-lived mobile game, which existence seems to have been completely erased by publisher Marvelous AQL after shutting down its mobile services and only scant info about it remains, much like how RAY was a previous attempt from Dr. White to recreate Trinity but was ultimately deemed a failure and was sealed away in a lab unbeknownst to everyone, unacknowledged by her own creator.
