Funny / Mighty No. 9

Go To

  • The Kickstarter "Mighty Boss Day" post for Mighty No. 7 starts with... an apple? Nah, just kidding.
  • At the end of the Mighty No. 9 GDC Video, the apple slices the credits in practically the same pose and background as Mighty No. 7 had when the former himself was sliced.
  • The trailer for the (presumably canceled) animated series plays Beck as The Chosen Zero hard, struggling to use No.2's powers at all, and losing control of No.5's, the whole time the Narrator is trying to hype Beck up in an In a World… voice.
Narrator: Beck will show the world why they call him Mighty! (A stray missile Beck accidentally fired then froze earlier lands on his head, knocking him out)... Uh... Maybe.
  • In the Opening Stage, Beck is sent by Dr. White to rescue Dr. Sanda when his building comes under fire from the robot rampage. As Beck nears the boss room, Dr. White tries to contact Sanda again, casually wondering if the robots have "torn him to pieces". Sanda wastes no time pointing out that his phrasing had all the grace of a jackhammer.
  • At the Oil Refinery, when Beck finally corners Pyrogen after a stage-long pursuit, Pyro responds by revealing his newfound barbaric madness and demanding to know why Beck hadn't been burned alive. Beck's quiet "uh oh" before the fireworks begin could only be translated as "mistakes have been made".
  • If one pays close attention to No. 7/Brandish's blueprints during the start of his boss fight, some of his parts is listed as "Ninja Mask" and "Ninja Goggles". The fact that he's the only one with terms like these (all these others have technical terms for their parts), makes one wonder what Dr. White was thinking when he made Brandish.
  • Aviator just in general. When the virus hits, unlike his siblings who go on to create some monumental havoc, Avi just takes over a broadcasting tower and spends the game trolling everyone over the air...and when you finally get to his stage, you'd be forgiven for confusing it with Deadpool's stage in Spider-Man: Shattered Dimensions. Even after he's healed, since he's the support member of the team, he spends the rest of the game more or less doing the same — just in the form of recon for the heroes.
Aviator: "And now to Avi for the weather."
Aviator: *a la weather reporter* "Thanks, Avi! We've got strong winds out there today. Be careful!"
Aviator: "...Moments before he fell to his tragic death..."
Aviator: *dramatically poses before taking on Beck* "Sorry, Beck, but your segment is about to get cut!"
  • Sometimes, when either Dr. Sanda or Dr. White say Beck's name in simple conversation in cutscenes, he will pop out of nowhere.
Beck: "You rang, [name of the professor who called him]? Where am I off to next?"
  • During the Mighty Numbers' Badass Family assault on the CherryDynamics robot factory, they break apart into groups to systematically take the factory's components down, with Countershade being paired with Cryosphere. Shade being Shade, Cryo finally gets called out on her horrible puns, which she is horrified by and demands he respect her status as his big sister.
    • For those not allergic to Cryosphere's puns, some might got a kick out of them because they're so bad.
  • Sometimes, if Countershade during this boss fight gets a good electrifying in his face, he couldn't teleport. What does he do? He hops around his boss room to move spot to spot. All the while he's still trying to act like he's the hot shot in the room.
  • When RAY makes her big debut, Beck and the team...don't really respond to her dramatic demeanor in the most appropriate of ways.
RAY: "I've been watching you. You're a Predator as well?"
    Beck: "A 'predator'...?"
    [Beat]
Beck: "...Professor, a strange robot is—"
Call: "Beck seems to have encountered something, Professor. How should—"
    RAY: "SILENCE!"
    • If you take it on a more positive note, the fact that RAY's moans of pain appear in the subtitles as "[AD LIB MOANING IN PAIN]" in some versions is somewhat funny (the computer versions corrected this oversight).
  • Seismic speaks almost entirely in construction worker warning signs for the entire fight. In particular...
Seismic: *as he throws a large boulder at Beck* "CAUTION! HARDHAT AREA."
  • If you can stop Battalion's Remote Cannon by freezing it before he can detonate it, he will comically stomp his foot down out of frustration.
  • Most of the various robot enemies has animations if they hit a wall or object blocking their path. Some of them, in pure determination to get Beck, will keep bumping, and bumping, and bumping...to said object until it is removed.
  • The game guide, while having very helpful information, will have little blurbs.
    • To Cyrosphere assisting on Battalion's stage, there's a little note:
An air dash could have easily cleared the bullets, but it's the thought that counts.
    • To Brandish cutting the cars:
    • Aviator described as a "annoying airplane" and Brandish going out of control described as "the kiddie gloves come off".
    • On every other stage, they put a "assist partner" box for who will help you in that stage. In the Robot Factory stage, every Mighty No.s joins and there's only one "assist partner" box. Who's in that box? Dr. White! While it does make sense, it will still make one chuckle.
    • The section for Dynatron's and Seismic's boss forms are called "Cut the Current" and "Get A Grip", respectively.
  • Call during her thank you message to the Kickstarter backers:
Call: "If I could come to life, I would give you all kisses for your hard work. Remember, sleep is overrated. Keep going."
