    Upcoming Characters
Upcoming characters
Idol Showdown is getting more characters in free updates, with Usada Pekora being teased. However, this makes one wonder how they'd be implemented if they are.
  • Usada Pekora: Mentioned before. Has powerful stage control with bombs. She could also have a resource system that involves Pekos, the currency from the Virtual Frontier.
  • Ouro Kronii: A high-difficulty oddball character who uses time shenanigans to dominate the neutral.
    • Half confrimed. She's added as a boss in the game. That being said, the way her boss fight is designed makes it possible for her to become a playable character in a future update, much in the same manner as Lab Coat Android 21.
      • Turns out to be playable, if purchased from Kiara's shop. Selecting her requires an order of cosplay selections for Ina.
  • Gawr Gura: An aggressive rushdown character who plays not unlike Taokaka from BlazBlue. One of her Specials allows her to turn into Gawr, making her attacks much more feral.
  • Omaru Polka: A Confusion Fu character similar to Faust who uses circus tricks and stage magic to run circles around her opponent.
  • Noel Shirogane: A super-armored burst-damage brawler similar to Marisa.
  • Machina X Flayon: A speedy counter-play character who uses the R-TRUS for attacks in an identical manner to the Zord mechanics from Power Rangers: Battle for the Grid.
    • Half-confirmed. He's added as a boss in the game while piloting R-TRUS. He can become playable if bought from Kiara's shop, though selecting requires a combination of cosplay selections with Ollie.
  • Noir Vesper: He starts off as a weary old grampire, but gets a motivation boost every time he adds another layer to his Plastic Ball meter. His attacks start with slow fists, then mid-range golf clubs, and eventually rapid long-range spears. He can walk, then run, and then bicycle around at high speeds. Think of him like a Drunken Master such as Chin Gentsai from The King of Fighters. And of course he and Kronii would have a special intro.
    • This might not happen after his graduation in 2023. However, there is a non-zero chance, as Coco, another graduate, is a playable fighter.
  • Akai Haato: A Difficult, but Awesome fighter whose Super has her swap into Haachama. Haachama could bring to mind Sol Badguy's Dragon Install in terms of execution.
  • Smol Ame: A Joke Character in the wrong hands, but a Lethal Joke Character in the right ones like Neco-Arc from Melty Blood. Her Super allows her to call on Buff Ame. She'll have a special intro with Amelia Prime.
  • Murasaki Shion: A zoning character who uses weird projectiles in an identical manner to Omen's Rashakuken, with a few portal attacks identical to Gargos.
    • Not yet. A frame in the EVO trailer has her be an NPC. However, Ollie also has an NPC role despite being playable, so there's still a chance.
  • Momosuzu Nene: A high-offense mid-range character who has husbands that function identically to Olimar's Pikmin.
  • Hakos Baelz: A pixie character akin to Charlotta from Granblue Fantasy Versus, with the same Critical Hit mechanics as Shingo Yabuki.
  • Tsukumo Sana: Provided she doesn't become a Collab before she becomes a playable character, Sana will be a big-bodied burst damage character with surprising range for her burst damage and frame data, as well as heavy armor to boot. Think Abigail's playstyle.
    • While she did graduate, that's a non-factor since Coco is playable.
  • Fuwawa & Mococo Abyssgard: An Ice Climbers-style duo character with a defensive playstyle. Alternatively a stance character that swaps randomly in a similar manner to Eyedol.
  • Jurard T. Rexford: He can be a rushdown/unga-bunga type of fighter with massive damage but huge openings like Leo Valentine.
  • Mori Calliope: She plays like a zoner while mixed with the same animations as Guilty Gear's Testament.
  • Yukihana Lamy: Being an ice based character, she can definitely play like Sub-Zero, but with less violence.
  • Koseki Bijou: Her height makes her a couple inches taller than Narmaya, but plays like a combination of her and Vergil, making her a Difficult, but Awesome character character for anyone willing to learn her style.

While unlikely, Assist Characters could be Promoted to Playable. This would be more prevelent if the already playable characters become selectable as assists as seen in the Future Mechanics section.

  • Kaela Kovalskia: A Magikarp Power character with a mechanic identical to Steve's Mining and Crafting mechanics. She'll also likely have a Trumpet of Doom to go with her favorite Sticker in HoloCure.
  • Ookami Mio: She would either be able to use Hatotaurus like Aki uses Mukirose, or she can be like Jotaro Kujo in JoJo's Bizarre Adventure: Heritage for the Future where he serves as her Stand.
  • Amelia Watson: An unotrodox mix-up character using everything in her disposal such as her magnifying glass, pistol, Watson's Concotion, and her stopwatch. Her Super Star Attack would have her summon a whole bunch of alternate universe Ames to trample the opponent. Of course, her moveset would not be complete without her Ground Pound.
  • Amane Kanata: Another grappler similar to Coco. In fact, she may have her moveset designed to be a Foil to Coco's moveset owing to their firendship.

Upcoming assist characters
In addition to more playable characters, it goes without saying that we may also get new Assists.
  • Oozora Subaru:
    • Star Call-In: Duck Scream: A loud scream that serves as a more telegraphed version of the Burst option.
      • Jossed.
    • Off-Collab: Oozora Police: Subaru will stand by similar to one of Android 18's Specials. Certain attacks will trigger a counter where the foe will be stunned temporarily.
      • Half-confirmed. She chases an idol that was not selected while being a hitbox instead.
    • Confirmed.
  • Ceres Fauna:
    • Star Call-In: Blooming Flowers: Fauna covers a patch of the stage with a patch of flowers that deals damage over time to any foe standing on it.
      • Jossed.
    • Off-Collab: Healing Voice: Fauna channels the power of ASMR to heal the character for a portion of the damage taken from the last attack that landed.
      • Jossed.
    • Confirmed.
  • Tsukumo Sana:
    • Star Call-In: Sana Is BEEG!: Sana turns giant and performs massive, heavy-hitting attacks every dozen seconds or so, emulating the Zord attacks from Power Rangers: Battle for the Grid.
    • Off-Collab: Sanalite Attack: Sana sends out her bread dogs, the Sanalites, at her opponent.
  • Sakamata Chloe:
    • Star Call-In: Ms. Orca!: Chloe appears with her orca hoodie on and launches herself forward headfirst, resulting in a powerful headbutt a la May's infamous dolphins.
    • Off-Collab: No Bath!: Chloe appears and walks around the stage, but her body odor creates a poisonous aura within a given radius. Notably, the effect will be canceled if her sprite comes into contact with a water-based attack.
  • Natsuiro Matsuri:
    • Star Call-In: I'm God, OK?: Matsuri charges a beam of power combining Suisei's comet drop attack and Roboco's beam special for massive damage at the cost of a long charge period. This has slow tracking.
    • Off-Collab: Festival Time: Matsuri starts playing on a taiko drum from the position she was summoned, directing sound waves upwards, forwards, or behind her based on Light, Medium, and Heavy attacks. These sound waves deal low damage but have long hitstun.
  • Banzoin Hakka
    • Star Call-In: Exorcism Roar: Belts out a Metal Scream to inflict damage on to the opponent.
    • Off-Collab: Exorcism Circle: A magic circle appears on the field, occasionally stunning the opponent.
  • Goldbullet
    • Star Call-In: Aimed Shot: Fires a shot from Lorraine. An aiming reticle appears as it follows the opponent, which inflicts damage after a short time.
    • Off-Collab: Spicy Cooking: Goldbullet cooks up a meal, which boosts his ally's attack at a cost of being unable to guard for a set period of time. Has a large cooldown. Counts as a snack for items that rely on comsuming them.
  • Octavio
    • Star Call-In: Snapshot: Octavio takes a picture using flash photography. Low damage, but foe will occasionally whiff attacks for a time.
    • Off-Collab: Baton Twirl: Octavio twirls his baton to temporarily cause the opponent to lose control of attacks.
  • Magni Dezmond
    • Star Call-In: Octo Punch: Dezmond uses his cape to punch the opponent dealing medium damage similar to Spring Man.
    • Off-Collab: It's Maggin' Time: Dezmond summons the Magmites to swarm and overwhelm the opponent while dealing small chip damage over time, working similar to Olimar's Pikmin.
Upcoming stages
Perhaps there can be new backgrounds with other references to streams and content creators.

  • The Sunfish. Sana would be in the background. If Sana is played on the stage, she won't be in the background.
  • Aogami High School. Sora, as Shino Misora, appears in the background, and the stage changes with each round passed.
    • Just to add: because Sora and Shino are technically different characters, she could very easily stick around even if Sora is being played.
  • HoloX's Secret Hideout. All of HoloX would appear in the background during the night version, but out during the day version.
  • The Summer Festival venue from HoloJP's Minecraft server, but the Minecraft elements would have to be altered.

Future Mechanics
Maybe in addition to new stages, characters and assists, we'll get new mechanics as well:
  • The ability to select playable characters as Collab characters. Certain Specials will be adapted to be Star Call-Ins and Off-Collabs.
    • Fubuki:
      • Star Call-In: Heavy Yukkuri Flip
      • Off-Collab: Blizzard Swirl. Can be used in mid-air.
    • Korone:
      • Star Call-In: Heavy DOOG
      • Off-Collab: Super Koro Punch
    • Coco:
      • Star Call-In: Heavy Tail-Grab
      • Off-Collab: Verbal Roasting
    • This also brings the prospect of the already-existing Collab characters to be Promoted to Playable.
  • Memberships: Enter a MAX Mode-style state that drains the Superchat meter.
  • 3v3 Mode. It would be like Marvel vs Capcom or Dragon Ball Fighter Z.

Future Bosses
If the game does continue being updated, we might see more bosses in the future.
  • Omegaα: Instead of being playable for online balance purposes, she would serve as a potential Superboss whose AI is on SNK Boss levels of unfairness. Defeating her gives the players new Cosplays for each character.
    • She would be fought on the Sunfish.
    • You can unlock her as a playble character (in a nerfed state) from Kiara's shop, after which you have to input a certian cosplay inputs.
  • HoloX: A Wolfpack Boss where you face two members at a time with different mechanics, but they have indiviual health bars.
    • La+ Darkness may also attack from the background if she's not active.
    • They would be fought in their Secret Hideout.
  • Mikodayne: A medium sized boss similar to J-TRUS who uses fire as it's main form of attack, and can temporarily turn the floor to lava.
    • She would be fought on Moonlit Shrine.
    • You can unlock her as a playble character from Kiara's shop, after which you have to input a certian cosplay inputs.
