They appear in almost every single historical skit. It would make sense that they, in secret, are gaining information from the historical skits and then going into the TARDIS to go to those points in time and make those points real.

This show is set in the same universe as History of the World Part I & II

Both are worlds where everything in human history is done through skits with song and dance numbers.
