William Wallace is the ancestor of Benjamin Martin.
Both of them happen to bear a very striking resemblance, and are depicted as heroic freedom fighters who battle cartoonishly evil Englishmen in a very historically inaccurate setting.- Colonel Hal Moore is a descendant of theirs, being a similarly heroic character fighting in a historically off setting. That said, the alternate timeline is evidently converging on the real one, as that film was considerably less inaccurate than either of the previous installments.
