Nova and Sol.
Across the Void is one of the many Visual Novel stories found in Pixelberry's Choices: Stories You Play collection.

Three siblings: two who are on opposite sides and one who is the new captain of a luxury ship try to keep the passengers safe in the middle of a civil war! This romantic space opera is like nothing you've experienced!

Tropes

  • Alien Hair: A lot of the characters in the story have hair with fantastic colors (which seems to be natural for their species and not dye) and volume that would be impossible for human.
  • All of the Other Reindeer: Pax and her two love interests Holmes and Zaniah have all felt like this at one time or another which is what bonded them together.
  • Anyone Can Die: Starting in Chapter 14, there are premium options to save characters. This gets more serious starting from Chapter 19, when one of the characters in question is Deimos, who is a love interest for Eos. Aside from the aforementioned Deimos, characters affected by this are Octan, a group of Ocana civilians, Holmes, Zaniah, Oberon, and Vee.
  • Bar Full of Aliens: A few times, one in the first chapter with the Elara siblings (where they meet Titania and get into a Bar Brawl with a Celd) and the meet the crew party on the ship.
  • Big Bad: Quandry, the leader of The Void.
  • Bodyguard Crush: Eos is charged with protecting Lyra, and she is his first love interest.
  • Command Roster: Nova is assigned as the captain of Luxury Class cruiser ship “The Atlas”. So far the roles are:
  • Content Warnings: A warning is issued at the start of Chapter 19, due to "scenes related to torture and violence".
  • Freudian Trio: The Elara siblings, Eos is the superego, Nova is the ego, and Pax is the id.
  • Front 13, Back 9: This doesn't usually happen in Choices stories, but Across The Void went on a several month long hiatus after Chapter 13 was released in late 2018, and the remaining nine chapters were released weekly from March 2019, making it the only example of this trope in a Choices book.
  • Gender-Blender Name: Eos shares his name with a Greek Goddess.
  • Hello, [Insert Name Here]: As per usual, the Main Character’s name and gender is customizable, having as a suggested name “Nova”, with Elara as the fixed last name.
  • Human Alien: All of the characters in the story are supposed to be alien, but almost all of them are basically just humans with weird hair, face lines or (in the case of Sol) gems in their body parts. The only exceptions are the Ocana, who are Fish People.
  • Insecurity System: If the player doesn't update all the security things, this will happen, with Kepler being able to sneak onto the ship and Deimos fining you for your broken doors.
  • Interspecies Romance: Most if not all of the romances in the book are between people of different species. Bonus points to Corvus and Argo, which has a Robosexual element to it.
  • Knight of Cerebus: The Void's introduction in Chapter 15 signals a dark turn of events in the story, when it's revealed that they're responsible for the Vanguard vs. Jura conflict in order to exterminate all life on the galaxy.
  • Planet of Hats: The Dynamas are stated by Sol to take cultures very seriously but aren't very people-friendly and their youngs (such as Sol himself) are expected to be independent from a very young age.
  • Plant Aliens: The Deevines - one of the alien races, have flowers in their hair and said to require UV ray to grow.
  • Power Tattoo: Kepler's tattoos give her a variety of traits, including Super-Strength and pheromones.
  • Sibling Triangle: Zekei can be pursued as a Love Interest by Nova and Eos, if the player wants to.
  • Starship Luxurious: The Atlas is a luxury spaceship, meant as a transporting cruise.
  • Stellar Name: Most characters in the story have astronomy-related names. The exceptions are Vee and Zekei.
  • Storyboard Body: : The constellation marks of the Thol are said to predict their destinies. Deimos recognizes that Zaniah's marks imply that she will bring ruin to others around her.
  • Stuff Blowing Up: Chapter 13 ends with the Senate building on Matara being bombed by the same criminals that attacked The Atlas
  • Switching P.O.V.: We get to see the perspectives of all three Elara siblings.
  • Tron Lines: Mostly notable on Cybers, but seen elsewhere.
  • Wham Episode:
    • Chapter 18: Prince Barlow is a member of The Void and kidnaps Eos, Deimos, and Zekei.
    • Chapter 22: Nova's boss, Artemis, is revealed to be the Jura General, and Sol is working for her.
