Vs. Mouse is a Friday Night Funkin' mod created by the Novatos Team and directed by the Rookie Team. The mod has you battling against various forms of Mickey Mouse after Boyfriend was given a mysterious cassette tape while he was looking for a Halloween hat for Girlfriend.

The mod consists of 3 weeks, each with a different Mouse as the opponent, as well as 2 bonus songs featuring additional toons. An update is also planned for an unknown release date, which will redesign characters and heavily revamp the music.

The mod can be downloaded on Gamebanana here or on Game Jolt here.

  • Art Evolution: The first concepts shown off for the mod were rather amateur in art style, looking rather lopsided and in some cases even tracing from other artwork. Once the mod received its V2 release, the characters were redesigned to fit a more unique and detailed style. The V3 update seems to be pushing this even further, with some of the teased redraws looking downright professional.
  • Artificial Human: Well, Artificial Mouse, anyway. All of the opponents in the mod, save for the Toons, are imperfect clones of Mickey Mouse. Mouse is the most successful of the 4, but he's still prone to bouts of anger and goes haywire in "Repentance".
  • All There in the Manual: None of the mod's lore is explained in the mod itself, but rather through Word of God.
  • And I Must Scream: Implied with Suicide Mouse's 2.6 sprites. His second sprite in "Misery" has him looking panicked at the syringe suddenly stuck in his arm, while before he looks just as cheerful as Mickey's regular disposition. This implies that the syringe was unintentionally jabbed into him, forcing him to undergo severe Body Horror and turn aggressive against his will.
  • Clone Degeneration: With the exception of the Toons, each opponent in the mod is an imperfect clone of Mickey Mouse, who each have this trope to different degrees.
    • Mouse is the most downplayed of the 4, looking pretty much exactly like his inspiration (minus his Glowing Eyes), with most of his defects coming in the personality department, as he tends to have bouts of anger.
    • Crisis is also very similar to the regular Mickey, but is much slimmer and taller. His poses have him giving various forms of Facial Horror, and he seems much more willing to get gory when the time demands it.
    • Experiment looks the most deformed of them, looking skinny to the point of looking malnourished, his muzzle being way longer, complete with Scary Teeth and a Maniac Tongue, his eyes are shriveled up and one of his ears appears to have a bite in it.
    • Suicide Mouse looks like Mickey, albeit a Deliberately Monochrome version of him… at first. He gains a rather manic expression halfway through "Misery" that "Suicide" turns into an outright Nightmare Face, and he starts melting during "Insanity Psychosis". As of the 2.5 build, his body also morphs into a towering Goofy-esque form by the end of the disk.
    • Costume is a floating head that not only is completely miscolored, but sounds way deeper than Mickey Mouse should.
  • Decomposite Character: In part due to much Early-Installment Weirdness, Markus ended up getting split into 4 separate characters by the 2.5 build; Markus himself retained his anger bouts and closer resemblance to Mickey, his deformed corpse-like transformation became Experiment, the thinner body and Facial Horror was given to Crisis, and his earliest design from the mod's alpha became Marky.
  • Deliberately Monochrome: Similar to other mods featuring Suicide Mouse, Disk 3 is completely black-and-white in reference to the original video.
  • Department of Redundancy Department: "Insanity" and "Psychosis" basically mean the same thing, making the song name "Insanity Psychosis" this.
  • Facial Horror:
    • Suicide Mouse's face starts to melt in "Insanity Psychosis", starting with his eyes before progressing to his whole face. In the 3.0 remakes of his sprites, his eyes pop out of his skull before the rest melts in the second half of the song.
    • In the 2.5 build, Markus's face starts to leak black ooze in "Repentance" and some parts of "Welcome".
    • Crisis and Marky perform this in all of their poses, ranging from gaining blank white eyes to growing a long, black tongue while black ooze comes from their eyes.
  • Face of a Thug: Crisis actively wants to help Boyfriend and Girlfriend, killing off Markus just as he was about to attack. One could easily assume he's just as hostile, however, based on his angry-looking expression and the fact that he sings the last 2 songs of the disk.
  • Fake Difficulty:
    • The original version of the mod has some very noticeable charting issues, leading to this. "Misery" in particular has the audio very noticeably desynch after the beat drop, making the notes hit sound next to nothing like the song.
    • While the majority of 2.5 is way better is regards to the charting, it intentionally plummets in quality during the Classic Mode. While the charts do sync as best as they can to the off-key songs, the latter half of the week is absolutely filled with long, fast jacks and becomes hideously overcharted as it tries to keep up with the note spam of the music.
  • Laughing Mad: Suicide Mouse lets out a couple in "Misery", as well as a few particularly big ones in "Suicide".
  • Off with His Head!: Once Crisis arrives halfway through Disk-1, Markus' decapitated head can be seen in the background. The 3.0 alpha release includes a cutscene that confirms this is, in fact, Crisis' doing.
  • Slasher Smile: Experiment and Costume have this constantly. Suicide Mouse also gains one from the second half of "Misery" onward.
  • Soundtrack Dissonance:
    • The first half of "Insanity Psychosis" sounds more like cheery circus music than something befitting a song called...well, Insanity Psychosis. Olimac31's remake has a much more menacing start, but still retains the cheery motif for a segment afterwards, adding to the unsettling dissonance.
    • Similarly, "Misery" and its remakes tend to have an upbeat swing rhythm rather than the depressing feeling its name would lead you to expect.
  • Stylistic Suck: The Classic Mode emulates the mod's alpha stage as close as possible (with some aspects of the beta). This, of course, includes its shoddy art, spammy charting, and god-awful music.
