The new and improved title screen (top), and the reworked and expanded roster (bottom).

From the original creator of Vargskelethor's Hardcore Friday Super Metal Almost Criminally Violent Ultra Swedish Meatball Royal Rumble MASSACRE, a full M.U.G.E.N screenpack by Brergsart in tribute of Vinesauce Joel's streams and memes, comes the long awaited sequel Vargverse.

For those who still haven't caught up, Vargverse is essentially a frickin Vinesauce Joel Fighting Game, complete with shout-outs and nods to his past streams, along with associates and many more. The characters contain Joel himself, and some returning characters from VHFSMACVUSMRRM along with new additions. Several returning characters were updated to follow the current trends and events, as such, characters like Bulk Bogan and Joel were updated to reference newer streams, such as Meme House and The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion.

Newly introduced in this game is the Vine Trigger mechanic, which can be activated mid-fight by pressing High Punch and High Kick at the same time once its meter is full. Vine Trigger grants the player extra power for short period of time depending on the character, whether it'll be enhancing his attacks like Joel's or a One-Hit Kill move like Vinny's.

Just like its predecessor, the plot is as complicated as you expect from a fighting game, only this time Joel's not responsible for the summoning of his past stream memes, but he's still held responsible by the public and they still designated that only him can stop the memes before they overstayed their welcome. So Joel went on to solve the issue once and for all, while also searching the culprit behind all of this, which is still lurking nearby in a darkness of his past, waiting for that one chance to strike him back...

The game can be downloaded here on Brergsart's new website, along with VHFSMACVUSMRRM if you so choose. Just like VHFSMACVUSMRRM, Brergsart might update the game at some point, though he might've planned another screenpack on the works.

Alright... DO IT!

  • Adaptational Badass: Several characters that were considered normal or even underwhelming in their home franchise were recreated to be total badasses in this game. And those that already were, only became even more badass here.
    • Not Shane is a One-Hit-Point Wonder that can get killed by almost anything in his home game, whether it be the enemy bandits, or when trying to kill the Clint Eastwood Expy. In this game, while still pretty fragile, Not Shane has several more tricks under his sleeve, a lot better aim, and even more bullets in reserve.
    • Dr. Thunder is a complete pushover in his home game. Here, he can go toe-to-toe with everyone, including fellow wrestlers Bulk Bogan and Dick Poop.
    • Carlos from Shadow: War of Succession is an absolute wuss despite wielding a gun, thanks to no part on how crappy his game controls. In this game, Carlos can easily surf the entire arena and warp through enemies in high speed, making him harder to hit and able to hit harder than he used to, at a cost of being squishier than most combatants.
    • Bob Ross is not normally a combatant, though there are records that he used to serve in a military institution for quite a long time before doing his show. In this game, Bob Ross is able to conjure magic from his paintings, and use them in combat, while having the physique of Cody Travers to boot.
  • Adapted Out: Several characters from VHFSMACVUSMRRM are no longer playable in Vargverse. This includes but not limited to Arashi, Gweelay, Chinese Rev, Scorpion, Lonk, He-Man, Angus, Viga, Senator, Felix the Cat, Shaq, Jailbot, Godzilla, Viga, Pope Malware, and Bootleg Michael Jackson.
    • Out of all bonus bosses, only Dance Master Duane and Flock of Falling Fathers returns. Giygas and Heihachi(?) were removed from the game and got replaced entirely.
  • Artificial Brilliance: Every character has had their A.I. coded and tweaked to function with MUGEN's native difficulty levels, right down to doing specific strategies in select scenarios.
    • Jotaro, DIO, and Bonzi Buddy will always try to dodge both the Dodge Viper and Flock of Falling Father's 'attacks', ensuring that they'll come unscathed in either scenario. How successful they're at it depends on the difficulty level that set, though. Everyone else's A.I., on the other hand...
  • Artificial Stupidity: ...will go straight to the Flock of Falling Father's bullseye instead of dodging it. This also applies to when they fight Dodge Viper.
  • Artstyle Dissonance: Even moreso than the previous game. Aside for Kenshiro, you also get to fight digitized actors like Carlos, Pantherk, and Jerma, the latter being hi-res with notably fluid animation because of his greenscreen capture.
  • Assist Character: Joel's got the ability to summon characters from his past streams. Other character may also summon their allies when using certain moves or activating their Vine Trigger.
    • Jill Valentine can summon Wesker and Spongebob to aide her in combat. She can also summons her beloved husband Nemesis when activating her Vine Trigger.
    • Occasionally, Not Shane may find either the Priest, the Old Man's Spider, or the dreaded Grim Reaper in his rummaging super, all of which can help him in combat in some manner.
    • Hulk Hogan can summon Macho Man Randy Savage in one of his moves.
    • The "Majima Everywhere" system is the pivotal mechanic on Kazuma Kiryu, which allows you to summon Majima on demand by pressing the Heavy Punch button. Since he doesn't have a Vine Trigger, scoring hits and using the Majima Everywhere system until the meter fills up unlocks the "Dragon of Dojima" style and its corresponding moveset, which remains until the battle ends.
  • Background Music Override: Just like in the first game, Don't Worry Mr. Aziz and Bestest Ken will override the background music with the PS2 rendition of Funiculi Funicula and Ken's theme respectively when fought, the latter requires Ken to chain his Shoryuken first to override it.
  • Big Bad: Bonzi Buddy.
  • Boring, but Practical:
    • Exaggerated and Deconstructed with The Bestest Ken in the World. In his story, Ken was cursed so that he can only use his Shoryuken. The move itself is effective to the point of encouraging the player to consistently do Shoryuken inputs to juggle the enemy to death. The A.I. can easily perform this.
    • Joel's ORA ORA ORA ORA ORA! only needs you to repeatedly tap the punch button. It's not his flashiest move, but it gets the job done, and is more practical than other Rapid-Fire Fisticuffs moves like Jotaro's and Kenshiro's.
    • Carl Johnson's Vine Trigger is just him eating a big burger shot and replenish his health, before puking it out and unleashing an unblockable short ranged projectile. It's effective to stop even some of the more relentless A.I. in the game.
    • Kenshiro's Vine Trigger simply empties out his opponent's star gauge, which allows him to unleash Hokuto Hyakkuretsu Ken if he fulfills its requirements.
  • Chef of Iron: BBQ Pit Boy is a grill master than also happens to be a competent fighter who gathers his own meat.
  • Cool Sword: Joel's Burning Superdeath Sword, of which you can summon two at once if his Vine Trigger is active.
  • Content Warnings: There's an epilepsy/seizure warning upon loading the game.
  • Dance Battler: Dance Master Duane conjures destructive force when dancing.
    • Breaker Majima is one of the Majima Everywhere assists Kiryu can summon.
  • Demoted to Extra: Several characters from VHFSMACVUSMRRM that aren't playable here do appear in some way or another.
    • Pope Malware appears in one of Bonzi attacks.
    • He-Man appears as Skeletor's Assist Character when activating his Vine Trigger.
    • Bootleg Michael Jackson is seen in Dance Master Duane ending, where it ends in an uncertain cliffhanger.
  • Crossover: Naturally.
  • Difficult, but Awesome:
    • Duke Nukem's mechanics rely on micromanaging your equipment rather than the usual fighting game commands. Recklessly spamming his weapons will left you dried out and force you to reload and be vulnerable. Carefully unloading your weapons allows you to successfully zone and chain your enemies in quick succession.
    • Kiryu's fighting style is based on all of his four stances from Yakuza 0/Kiwami, where each style has different strengths and weaknesses.
    • Archvile's powers are rather simple, but hard to execute thanks to the long wind up time. Timing it right and you can easily cut your opponent's healthbar without taking a hit. The A.I. seems to be very keen on this.
    • Not Shane doesn't have your standard punch and kick moves, as his buttons simply shoot his gun in various direction. Carefully landing his guns allows you to zone the enemy indefinitely.
  • Disney Villain Death: Flock of Falling Father Figures is a parody of Fatal Fury's instance of this trope.
  • Drugs Are Bad: Subverted. Like in the previous game, an anti-drug PSA by the US Government appears to warn players with the "Winners don't do drugs!" screen, until Skeletor abruptly appears and ruins the PSA, telling the government that "No, I will smoke as much ganja as I want, because I am a rad dude! Nyaaaah!".
    • Carlos used to be an anti-drug enforcer from the top brass, until one drug raid he accidentally sniffed dangerous drug fumes that turned him into a one-man rampage. Once sober, he realized the damage he caused, so he turned himself over to the authorities, going to jail for 40 years. After serving his time, he continued his crusade against drugs as a vigilante.
  • Eagleland: The Real American himself, Hulk Hogan.
  • Excuse Plot: The plot is largely the same as the previous game, except for the fact that this time Joel isn't responsible of the Meme outbreak, but an outside force.
  • Forced Transformation: Upon entering the world of Nirn in Cyrodiil through an Oblivion portal, Bulk would utilize magic spells in his moveset. One as such is using the power of Wabbajack to transform anyone hit with it into various critters from the game, ranging from sheep and little rats to goblins and skeletons.
  • Full-Contact Magic: CBT Wizard Johnson casts his CBT magic up close and personal, as opposed to how wizards would usually operate.
  • Game Mod: Vargverse is a full screenpack created using the M.U.G.E.N engine.
  • Groin Attack: CBT Wizard Johnson specializes in this, casting deadly spells that specifically hit the target in the nads.
  • The Heavy: Many might suggest that Pantherk's is BonziBUDDY's right hand man, as he's the last fighter you have to face before fighting the final boss.
  • Inept Mage: Bulk is more of a brawler than a mage.
  • Lethal Joke Character:
    • Don't Worry Mr Aziz is an edit of Marvel VS Capcom Spider-Man that makes using him more trouble than it's worth, ranging from attacks that can miss and hurt himself, to several ineffectual attacks that don't work most of the time. He can still be a competent fighter, though, being based on MVC's Spider-Man.
    • Pepsiman has the same elements as Don't Worry Mr. Aziz is that most of his attacks can potentially hurt himself. Unlike Spidey, though, most of them can be avoided or mitigated in some manner.
    • Carlos My Main Man has a minuscule moveset, but his Vine Trigger turns him into a borderline Game-Breaker.
  • Limit Break: The aforementioned Vine Trigger meter. You can fill the trigger meter by hitting your attacks or being hit. You can activate it to gain passive effects or execute super moves.
    • Uncle Joel: Enhances his special moves, making some attacks faster than usual.
    • Bulk Bogan: Activates his breakdown rage.
    • Sauceboss Vinny: Enters a timed state in which he can execute his One-Hit Kill move.
    • Jerma: Giant Omegas drop from the sky, each dealing massive damage and hitstun to a wide area.
    • Mr. Kill: Allows him to cancel and combo his special moves.
    • Jotaro Kujo: Activates the legendary 3-page beatdown.
    • DIO: Allows him to stop time and counter any incoming strikes.
    • Duke Nukem: He picks up Devastator and Jetpack, and you can rain missiles on the battlefield by pressing the trigger mid-air.
    • Carl Johnson: Eats a hamburger, which he pukes out as an unblockable projectile.
    • Not Shane: Gives him infinite meter, and disables the round timer for a short time.
    • Kazuma Kiryu: He doesn't have Vine Trigger, but filling up the Majima Everywhere bar to full unlocks the legendary Dragon of Dojima style, greatly expanding his moveset and power.
    • Jill Valentine: Summons forth her lover Nemesis to assist her in battle.
    • Dick Poop: Causes his hearts to burn on fire, allowing you to unleash strong desire attack when reactivated up to two times.
    • Dance Master Duane: Can activate his attacks without using meter.
    • CBT Wizard Johnson: Transforms into his subway form, causing everyone to get hit when colliding with it.
    • Carlos: Allows him to teleport behind his enemy upon attacking.
    • Bob Ross: Summons a giant white canvas. Hitting the enemy slowly fills up the canvas and once it's complete, it will explode and deal massive damage to its surroundings.
    • Real Police Dude Leon Kennedy: Allows him to use a powerful Magnum pistol.
    • Dr. Thunder: Causes random explosions around the arena until the meter fully depletes.
    • Pantherk: Becomes fun sized, lowering his hurtbox while increasing his attack power and range.
    • Bestest Ken: Unleashes his true potential, allowing you to infinitely stunlock your enemies with your Shoryuken until the meter depletes.
    • Hulk Hogan: Hulks himself up, temporarily gaining super armor.
    • Shockmaster: Causes the ground to tremble when walking.
    • Robert Cop: Unleashes a powerful move where he grabs and stabs his opponent before kneecapping them and unloading his remaining bullets alongside ED-209.
    • Karnov: Unleashes a powerful projectile that travels in slow speed and deals repeated hits upon contact.
    • Kenshiro: Empties the opponent's Star Gauge, allowing Kenshiro to instantly use Hokuto Hyakkuretsu Ken.
    • Pepsiman: Activates Carbonation Domination, allowing him to quickly punch in a straight dash when reactivated, but it can also hit himself.
    • Skeletor: Summons his archnemesis He-Man to help him in combat.
    • Don't Worry Mr. Aziz: Causes all of the Pizzas particle to explode on contact because Joel poisoned them with C-4.
    • Tim Taylor: Allows him to cancel his attacks while also being stronger and faster.
    • Tuesday the Tuna: Allows him to dive deep beneath the arena, from where he can re-emerge and burst through.
    • Arch-Vile: Summon more Arch-Viles to aid him in battle.
    • BBQ Pit Boy: Becomes Cyber Pit Boy, deploys a machine that constantly repairs him until the meter depletes.
    • Urist Mcdwarf: Causes a nearby elf raid to appear. The battle gets raided by elves that will attack the opponent and Urist alike. Luckily for him his short posture allows him to avoid their arrow shots.
    • Bonzi Buddy: Doesn't have a Vine Trigger, but activating the command kicks off Bonzify.exe, which ends the round in 30 seconds in Bonzi's favor, unless the opponent kills Bonzi first.
  • Mechanically Unusual Fighter:
    • The Duke Nukem in this game is completely different from VHFSMACVUSMRRM's Duke Nukem. This Duke doesn't have much special moves in his kit, solely relying on his equipment, which has limited ammo he needs to constantly reload.
    • While he can still use special moves, Not Shane's game plan lies in shooting the target from afar in any unconceivable angle as his basic attack. A good Not Shane can zone the enemy from afar real quick.
    • Arch-Vile only has the ability to conjure a giant pillar of flame or erupt a mighty fiery power, and can also heal himself and resurrect his fallen comrades to battle.
    • Kazuma Kiryu's combat style and control layout is the same as the Stance System introduced in Yakuza 0 and Kiwami. You can switch your stance from Brawler, Rush, and Beast. Once you accumulate enough Majima points, you unlock the "Dragon of Dojima" style, which combines the best of his early stances.
    • Bosses Dance Master Duane and BonziBUDDY. Duane needs to accumulate meter to unleash his highly damaging attacks. BonziBUDDY's deadliest attack is not even an attack proper, but a sequence in which the opponent needs to dodge and get lucky in order to beat him, or else he instantly wins the round.
  • More Dakka:
    • Duke Nukem's mechanics discourage this. His gun can be shot in quick succession, but you'll have to reload almost immediately.
    • Bulk plays this straight with his prison guard submachine gun.
    • Not Shane unloads a lot of revolver shots in one of his supers.
    • Both Real Police Dude and Jill Valentine uses assault rifles on their primary arsenal.
  • Moveset Clone:
    • Mr. Kill is an evil variant of Joel that's the Akuma to Joel's Ryu, right down to being a Glass Cannon. Unlike Joel, his Vine Trigger allows him to cancel his special moves into other special moves.
    • A corrupted variant of Vinny can be selected if you press down arrow while in Vinny's slot. He shares his moveset, but is deliberately glitchy and not even his health stays consistent through the match.
  • Mythology Gag: A lot of them, since nearly everything about the game is relevant to Joel's streams:
    • The "Winners Don't Use Drugs" disclaimer being hijacked by Skeletor references a segment where Joel, thinking that He-Man would most likely star in anti-drug PSAs, surmises that Skeletor would also have his own version advocating for drugs to counteract He-Man's attempts.
    • Duke Nukem's home stage is Brazil, a callback to a moment where Joel played with Google Translate resulting in Duke Nukem becoming Duki Nuki. In addition, Duke's special intro with Joel (and Mr. Kill) not only has Joel's laughing fit upon first hearing Duki Nuki, but also includes Jon St. John's voiced cameo at the end of Joel's Best of 2017 video.
      • Additionally, Duke Nukem's special intro with Sauceboss Vinny has him inexplicably cloning himself inbetween flashes of the Duke Nukem 3D splash screen, while he and his clones continuously say "Yeah, piece of cake!" This references the time when Vinny played a poorly-programmed Duke Nukem fangame that had him paralyzed with laughter after witnessing a death glitch with that same effect.
    • These Pizzas Are In Good Hands' Vine Trigger, which turns all his flung pizzas into exploding projectiles, plays a clip from Joel's Rollercoaster Tycoon 2 streams in which he jokes that he poisoned all the pizzas with C4 before activating the exploding guests cheat.
    • If Bonzi Buddy uses his ultimate attack on Tim Taylor, it becomes Tim Allen's Sexy Strip Poker.exe instead, which was another fanmade virus program given to Joel on one of his Windows Destruction streams.
  • No-Holds-Barred Beatdown: Jotaro's Vine Trigger allows him to recreate the 3-page Ora Ora beatdown on Steely Dan.
  • One-Hit Kill: Vinny, Pantherk and Bonzi have a devastating move that instantly kills the target.
  • Optional Boss: Just like in the previous game, you might encounter extra characters that don't directly appear on the select screen by round 5. Whether it's a minigame where you dodge Geese Howard's falling body, a minigame about avoiding a speeding Dodge Viper, or facing against the deadly dancer Duane himself.
  • Our Dwarves Are All the Same: Urist Mcdwarf's design is your typical Dwarf Fortress dwarf ASCII face, with an added body. Ditto with the Elves.
  • Pizza In The Face: Just like the previous game, Joel can throw the Tekken 7 pizza to his enemies, while Don't Worry Mr. Aziz has his Pizza-themed strikes.
  • Rapid-Fire Fisticuffs: Par the course with the series, several combatants have some variant of this in their moveset, be it Joel, Jotaro, Dio, Kenshiro, and Bulk.
  • Shout-Out:
    • The Bestest Ken In The World is based off of a series of videos in which the Ken player uses almost exclusively Shoryukens, and manages to win matches with that handicap. The clip of Foo Fighter's "Best of You" (specifically the infamous "THE BEST") that plays whenever Bestest Ken lands a hit while in V-Trigger is also a reference to one of Brergsart's other characters, The Violentest Ken In The World, which is an overpowered edit of a previous version of Bestest Ken, and would randomly use that clip on repeat instead of Clamato Fever.
    • Real Police Dude is based off of both Deepercutt's YTP of Resident Evil 4 and the speedruns of the same game, specifically JTB's run on Games Done Quick, in which he jokes that R.P.D. stood for Real Police Dude, hence the name.
    • These Pizzas Are In Good Hands is entirely based on ROCKCOCK64's Spider-Man videos, mostly this one, in which Spidey acts drunk as he attempts to deliver Mr. Aziz's pizzas and fails miserably at it.
  • Take Over the World: Bonzi's true intention was to conquer the real world by making Joel's memes overstay their welcome, and then using his malware powers to infect all PCs in the world with his image, before replacing Joel's own position as a streamer to forever stream Windows Destruction 24/7.
  • Wham Shot: Jerma's ending reveals that he's the imposter all along!
  • Whatevermancy: CBT Wizard Johnson specializes in cock-and-ball-torturing spells.
  • Wrestler in All of Us: Aside from Bulk Bogan, the game introduces four new wrestlers into the roster; The Shockmaster, Dr. Thunder, Hulk Hogan himself, and Dick Poop.

"You have 30 second to save yourself."
