The 8-Bit Hunt has begun.

A side scrolling Action game released for the NES in 1989 centered on the Predator franchise, this one based on the 1987 Film.

The game follows the plot of the movie. You play as Major Dutch Schaefer in an action platformer through treacherous environments, facing dangerous enemies and obstacles. He starts out with a standard punch, but can acquire other weapons like a machine gun, grenades, and a laser blaster. The Predator shows up in every other stage as a recurring boss battle. There also some "Big Mode" levels where the perspective changes and you play a special auto-scrolling stage where the player has to shoot down obstacles to progress.

The NES Predator Game contains examples of:

  • Everything Trying to Kill You: Predators get a little boring and repetitive, so the game mixes it up by sticking in some random enemy creatures to battle the player. Jellyfish, floating amoeba, and crawfish among many.
  • Good Old Fisticuffs: If Dutch doesn't have a weapon, this is how he attacks enemies.
  • Grenade Spam: The Grenade weapon lets you toss grenades. They can be used to blow up walls and destroy enemies, but their explosions can hurt you.
  • Jungle Japes: The levels generally take place in the dark Jungles.
  • Real Men Wear Pink: Dutch Schaefer's sprite is colored pink in this game. Averted in the "Big Mode" stages, where he closely resembles his movie self with proper camo colors.
  • Scary Scorpions: Scorpion enemies walk about in the stages as basic enemies, but since they are low to the ground, the player cannot attack them.
  • Underground Level: Starting in Level 3, some of the stages take place in caves.
