Friday Night Funkin': Big Swingin' Sister is a Friday Night Funkin' mod created by Juno Songs, lemonking, and Steel. In this mod, Girlfriend introduces Boyfriend to her big sister, Sister Searest, who leads a jazz band with her college friends, is more than happy to meet Boyfriend and invites him to play alongside them.

The mod consists of 3 weeks. The first week is Boyfriend meeting Sister Searest and her band for the first time whilst singing with her, the second week is him joining the band at a live gig and singing with each member, and the third week consists of each band member performing a cover/remix of a song from a different Friday Night Funkin' mod.

Song List:

Week 1: Jazzed to meet'cha

  1. Midtown Blues (Sister Searest)
  2. Brassafrass (Sister Searest)
  3. Hotfoot (Sister Searest)

Week 2: Gig Week

  1. Fireplace (Sister Searest)
  2. Coolhead (Theo)
  3. Pesto Linguine (Shorty)
  4. Passionfruit (Raquel)
  5. Heavy Liftin' (Minji)

Week 3: The Cover Week

  1. Kunai (Sister Searest)
  2. Shotgun Shell (Minji)
  3. Epiphany (Theo)
  4. Saxpurgation (Shorty)
  5. Endless (Raquel)

This work contains examples of:

  • Alliterative Name: Sister Searest.
  • Big Band: Sister Searest's band, The Funky Troop, is this. She plays a trumpet, Theo plays the piano, Shorty plays a tenor saxophone, Raquel plays a bass guitar, and Minji is the drummer.
  • Blue with Shock: Played for Laughs. Upon being introduced, Shorty flirts with Boyfriend, but once Sister Searest points out that he already has a girlfriend, Shorty can only say "Oops" whilst in complete shock.
  • Broken Ace: Downplayed, but Boyfriend is a bit worn out by the constant barrage of fights with people who want to kill him.
  • The Cameo:
    • Monika appears on a poster on the music room wall in the first week. She also appears on a tablet on Theo's piano during "Epiphany".
    • The audience of the Gig and Cover weeks are Sunday, Nikusa, Pico, Cassette Girl, Ace and Retro.
  • Cool Big Sis: Girlfriend views Sister Searest as such, and it's not hard to see why, seeing her laidback, friendly nature and her musical talent.
  • Cover Version: The third week, aptly titled "The Cover Week", consists of songs from other Friday Night Funkin' mods covered by each band member:
    • Sister Searest covers "Kunai" from Shinobi Scramble, another mod that Juno Songs worked on.
    • Minji covers "Shotgun Shell" from Friday Night Funkin': ENTITY.
    • Theo covers "Epiphany" from Doki Doki Takeover!.
    • Shorty covers "Expurgation" from The Tricky Mod, putting a twist on the song by giving it a start that references "Powerhouse/Calliope", Tricky’s theme, and titling the song "Saxpurgation".
    • Raquel covers "Endless" from Vs Sonic.exe.
  • Crush Blush: Sister Searest has a crush on Minji, indicated by her blushing for a moment in "Heavy Liftin'" when Minji flexes, and her letting it slip that she found Minji's performance to be "Sexy" once the song is over.
  • Family Theme Naming: Girlfriend's sister is named Sister Searest, which goes with their parents' names being Daddy Dearest and Mommy Mearest.
  • Fangirl:
    • Raquel is a fan of Sonic, having played the GameCube Sonic collections in her childhood. Her artwork in the soundtrack video for "Endless" depicts her watching one of the Sonic films alongside Majin Sonic.
    • Minji is a fan of K-Pop, joking that K-Popstars are "Heaven for her little pansexual heart".
  • Friendly Enemy: Neither Sister Searest nor any of her bandmates show any sort of animosity towards Boyfriend, being nothing but friendly. Adding to this, their losing icons have them be excited or happy, indicating their enjoyment in performing Boyfriend, whereas their winning icons have them be upset.
  • Game-Over Man: Each and every band member has quotes for when Boyfriend gets blueballed. Most of the quotes are the band member saying a variation of "Let's Try Again", some lampshade the game over animation, but none are mean-spirited in anyway.
  • Genki Girl: Raquel. She's described as lively, and her dialogue portraits generally depict her with an upbeat expression.
  • Leaning on the Fourth Wall: In one of her game over quotes, Raquel asks if the player intentionally lost just so they could hear the beginning of the song again and requests that they at least make it to the end before restarting.
  • Meaningful Name: Sister Searest, aside from the obvious Family Theme Naming that comes with being a Dearest, also doubles as meaningful due her being the sister of Girlfriend with the ability of pyrokinesis.
  • Motor Mouth: Raquel is described as very chatty, and certainly is this when she introduces herself.
Raquel: Hi, I'm Raquel, I'm a Sagittarius, my pronouns are "she/her", and I'm from Chicago, well actually—
  • One-Winged Angel: Discussed and subverted. Boyfriend admits to expecting Sister Searest to transform for the third song before "Hotfoot" begins, and while Sister Searest states that as a demon she naturally does have great power, when Boyfriend asks to see her show off said powers, she curtly refuses.
  • Only Known by Their Nickname: Shorty. The mod's GameBanana page puts quotation marks around his name, indicating that it's merely his nickname. His actual name is never stated.
  • Playing with Fire: Sister Searest is pyrokinetic, and demonstrates by making controlled sparks whenever she snaps her fingers.
  • Straight Gay: Each and every member of the band is some form of LGBT (Sister Searest and Theo are bisexual, Shorty is gay, Raquel is lesbian and Minji is pansexual), and aside from Shorty briefly flirting with Boyfriend upon being introduced, none of them exhibit any stereotypically campy behavior.
  • Suddenly Speaking: This mod has voice acting, so Boyfriend speaks here. He's voiced by the creator of Friday Night Funkin' WITH LYRICS, RecD.
  • Token Non-Human: Sister Searest is the only demon in the band, whereas her bandmates are humans.
  • Tomboy: Slightly played with for Minji due to being non-binary but also using female pronouns. Minji is very muscular and refers to herself as a "rocker" at their core.
