FIREWORKS MANIA is a small casual explosive simulator game where you play around with fireworks, create beautiful firework shows or just blow stuff up.
Fireworks Mania-An Explosive Simulator is a casual simulation game created by a single developer under his screen name Laumania, and released on December 20, 2020 via Steam. The game is a Wide-Open Sandbox game where the player has an unlimited variety of fireworks and other pyrotechnic devices along with an empty world that allows the player to do whatever they want with them. Players can casually play with a few fireworks or use the game to create entire virtual fireworks shows. In the game's open-world nature, the player can also cause chaos with fireworks such as blowing up entire objects. With no people or animals in the virtual world the player is able to cause whatever chaos they want with fireworks without a fear of getting hurt or arrested. Laumania is often updating the game often with new maps and new items, both of the "on the map" variety, and new fireworks and usable items.

On December 18, 2021 the game received its first major DLC which added a community for the game, a day & night cycle, and a new map, the City. A second DLC in June, 2022 added advanced physics options.

The game provides examples of:

  • Abandoned Area: All three of the game's maps (as of the December 2021 DLC) are completely abandoned, and there is no explanation why.
  • Acceptable Breaks from Reality: There are no people at all in the game's world, not even a fire department. Also, you can't be hurt by explosions.
  • Anti-Frustration Features: The June 2022 update added option to turn certain physics off so you can create a show without anything on the map reacting.
  • Artistic License – Law: The game has no people at all including police, even though the City map has a police station, so you can blow up anything and catch anything on fire without fear of being caught and arrested. For that matter you also don't have to worry about hurting yourself. Obviously, there can be very dire consequences in real life for playing with fireworks.
  • Artistic License – Physics: Anything that pertains to the fireworks is realistic, but that same cannot be said for the Physics Tool which can pick up and heft any object not attached to the world, and send it flying with no regard to laws of physics like gravity. In addition, objects set on fire will burn in place and the fire will not spread.
    • The June, 2022 update added the ability to switch off chain reactions for explosions as well as turning off the reactions of objects affected by explosions.
  • Awesome, but Impractical: The Day/Night tool is impractical when you remember that (except for smokers, flares, and other novelties) you can't see fireworks during the day.
  • Casual Video Game: The game can be played for just a few minutes, or for hours on end. With no time limit or main objective, the player has no restriction in doing whatever they want.
  • Fantastic Fireworks: A lot of rather creative fireworks have been uploaded to the game using the Workshop.
  • Fatal Fireworks: Setting fires, sending object flying with explosions, blowing up an entire gas station, there are a lot of different ways to cause chaos with fireworks in the game that could very well be deadly in real life.
  • Gravity Master: The Physics Tool allow the player to grab and throw any object with no regards to gravity.
  • Holiday Mode: The game gets skinned with various holiday decorations themed around various holidays around the world that involve fireworks such as Australia Day (January 26), Chinese New Year, Canada Day (July 1), Independence Day (July 4), Diwali (mid-fall), and New Year's Eve which has decorations worldwide.
  • In-Universe Game Clock: The December 2021 DLC update added a day/night feature. You can freeze time at day, night, dawn, or dusk, or set a timer that changes the time of day during gameplay at a selectable speed.
  • Non-Fatal Explosions: You can't be hurt by explosions in the game. Not by fireworks, not by areas such as the gas station exploding, not even by the nuke item.
  • No Plot? No Problem!: Why are you somebody that is alone in a small neighborhood with an unlimited supply of fireworks and pyrotechnics? It's anybody's guess because there is no plot of any kind in the game.
  • Nuke 'em: The December 2021 DLC adds nukes to the game's arsenal of explosives.
  • Our Lawyers Advised This Trope: The game boots with a message warning "Fireworks are not toys! Don't attempt anything you do in this game in real life!"
  • Product Placement: American fireworks retailer TNT Fireworks released a workshop pack with virtual versions of all of its products.
  • Pyromaniac: Pyromaniac-The Game! since the entire idea of the game is simply just to play with fireworks!
  • Shout-Out: A few of the items are named after various YouTubers including PewDiePew, Cody Boom, and MrBeasts.
  • Stuff Blowing Up: Not just fireworks! There are dozens of potential objects on all three maps that can be blown up such as a tractor on the ranch map and an entire gas station on the city block map.
  • Thriving Ghost Town: There are no people anywhere on the City map.
  • Video Game Cruelty Potential: Wanna blow up the gas station, set the house on fire, or start a raging wildfire on the farm map with fireworks? Go ahead!
  • Wide-Open Sandbox: The game is a wide-open sandbox game along with being a very casual title with no story or main objective. The player can do whatever they want on all available maps. The December 2021 DLC update also did add a "flat" map with nothing but a large flat plain and no items.
