Experience what it means to be a firefighter.
Developed by Chronos Unterhaltungssoftware and released in full on November 17, 2020 by astragon Entertainment, Fire Fighting Simulator - The Squad is a multiplayer career simulation game where the players take on the role of actual firefighters and must travel around a large metropolis to experience real firefighter activity including extinguishing fires and rescuing civilians in danger.

What makes the game stand out compared to other similar titles is the amount of realism the game has. The players drive and operate Rosenbauer America firetrucks and have a wide variety of real firefighting tools at their disposal. The game also uses realistic fire physics and includes factors such as backdrafts and flashovers as well as different causes of fires such as grease fires, explosions, and accidents with matches or lighters. The game also has realistic physics for the destruction caused by spreading fires.

This game contains examples of:

  • Artificial Brilliance: Each mission will typically send out two fire trucks - one group that has the player(s), and one group that is full of NPC firefighters. The NPC firefighters in the other vehicle will attempt to control the fire to give the player more time.
  • Artistic License – Physics: Fully averted in regards to fire which realistically destroys environments as it spreads. The game also incorporates real-life problems that hinder fighting a fire such as backdraft, flashovers, hot spots, and flare-ups. Similarly, water should not be used on grease or oil fires as it would cause a splash over of the fire.
  • Artificial Stupidity: Sometimes the NPC firefighters that work with the players don't do much and just stand around even when you attempt to give them orders.
  • Heroic Fire Rescue: You pull several of these throughout the game by rescuing civilians trapped in the houses.
  • Man on Fire: By standing in or near flames, the player can get injured by the fire.
  • Not-Actually-Cosmetic Award: The different fire trucks awarded for completing missions seem to be cosmetic at first, but it turns out that each one comes with new equipment to allow the player to fight fires better.
  • Playing with Fire: Some scenarios in the game start because somebody was playing with matches, lighters, or fireworks.
  • Product Placement: The firetrucks in the game are Rosenbauer fire trucks, which are by far the most widely used and well-known brand of firetrucks in the United States.
  • Timed Mission: Once players reach the mission location, a timer will appear on screen to show how long they have until they fail the mission. It only applies to the fire though, so saving civilians can (theoretically) be done later.
  • Unexpectedly Realistic Gameplay: Some scenarios happen because somebody played with matches, lighters, or fireworks. Other ones occurred when somebody mixed two combustible chemicals together. Others are standard common kitchen or garage grease or oil fires.
  • Where the Hell Is Springfield?: The game takes place in a West Coast American city but the city is un-named and it's also not stated what state the city is located in.
