Elevator Ritual is an RPG Maker horror game. It stars Naysilla, a worker in the struggling Rainbow Hotel, who is doing her usual duties when one day she discovers a person in the elevator fully frozen. After informing her boss Ms. Rozelyn and having the person taken to a hospital, she finds a note the person had that describes the titular 'Elevator Ritual', in which one must press the elevator buttons in a certain order and stay inside the whole time, which is said to deliver the person to another world.

She does so, and the elevator goes crazy, dropping her off in the hotel... but everything is different. The hotel is ruined, filthy, and dark, the power is off, and worst of all, there are monsters everywhere. Upon exploring a bit and meeting with some others, she discovers that nearly everyone in the hotel has transformed into a monster, and although some still retain their mental faculties, it is only a matter of time before they too lose their minds. Now Naysilla must find the generator room key to put the power back on and find her way back while avoiding the monsters and discovering what made them all turn in the first place.

Can be found on Steam here.

This game contains examples of:

  • Big Bad: Professor Kumozoru is the one who turned everyone in the Rainbow Hotel into monsters with his formula and is the Final Boss who Naysilla must defeat before she can return to her world.
  • Hell Hotel: The game takes place in one. The Rainbow Hotel is not usually like this, but when Naysilla does the titular ritual and is transported to another world, she finds a version of the hotel broken down, dirty, and filled with monsters. Turns out it is the Rainbow Hotel two years in the future after Professor Kumozoru used his formula to turn everyone into monsters.
  • The Password Is Always "Swordfish": A recurring puzzle is a series of chests which must be opened with a password. A grid of nine letters is always close by, and the letters must be combined to form the word that opens the chest. Typically, this word is related to something the player saw a little earlier. The first password, for example, is "OPEN", and one of the passwords is "SQUID", for a chest seen after encountering a giant squid.
  • Stable Time Loop: In the backstory, Professor Kumozoru used a special formula to turn people into monsters. When Naysilla, who was transported 2 years into the future, finally goes back in time to before Kumozoru discovered the formula, she has gotten a bit of the formula on her shirt. She faints and is in the hospital, where Kumozoru- at the time a doctor at the hospital- discovers the substance on her shirt, and decides to research it. This makes Naysilla realize that her own return is what will cause the events of the game.
  • The Reveal: Turns out the elevator ritual did not take Naysilla to a parallel world, but 2 years into the future. The reason everyone turned into monsters is because Professor Kumozoru used a special formula to do so.
  • The Unreveal: We never do find out the real identities of Mrs. Goldie and Mrs. Blue.
