Dread of Laughter is a Survival Horror video game by Icy North Games.
Catheryn Barnett is driving down a road one night when her car breaks down. She isn't about to let that stop her, though, so she decides to cut through the woods to get to the nearest town. When she does, she happens across an old ranch. Figuring she might find some people there who could help, Catheryn opens the front door and goes inside.
In doing so, she steps into a nightmare.
The game was funded on Kickstarter in October of 2018. It was ultimately released on October 31st, 2018.
Dread Of Laughter contains examples of:
- Apocalyptic Log: There are papers and videotapes found throughout the house detailing what's happened in there.
- I'm a Humanitarian: The family living in the ranch are revealed to be this, between a note revealing they do so, and in one case, a human heart on a plate at a table.
- Monster Clown: The killer Invokes this trope by having a clown face painted on the sack that he wears over his head.
- Sackhead Slasher: The killer wears a bag with a clown face painted on it over his head.
- Ten-Second Flashlight: Or rather, Ten-Second Lighter. Catheryn's lighter uses up lighter fluid when it's on, so she needs to constantly search for more to keep on using it.
