Darkness Takeover is a Game Mod for Friday Night Funkin', crossing over with the action-horror Meta Fictional animation Pibby — and by extension, the rest of the Fox multiverse featured, including Family Guy, The Simpsons, and American Dad!. The latest release can be played here and here.

The darkness is spreading, rapidly, and it has made its way into a show called "Family Guy". BF is also pulled into this world and must survive alongside familiar allies to ensure his s̶u̸r̷v̷i̸v̸a̶l̵. Will he survive? or will he get c̸̪͠ö̵͖́r̴̟̀r̶̙̄u̶̗̓p̸̥͛t̶̹́e̵̜̅d̵͚̆ like the others? The choice is up to you...

Not to be confused with other Pibby-related FNF mods that came out as a result of the teaser animation, recursive to this one (like Quahog's Last Stand) or otherwise.

This mod contains the following tropes:

  • Acrofatic: Peter, as usual. He even manages to outrun a wave of the Darkness in Death Lives.
  • Adapted Out: Pibby herself, who as of the current day, is yet to see an appearance in this mod.
  • All Deaths Final: Word of God states that any characters that are dead cannot be brought back to life by uncorrupting their bodies. However, Stewie's gun can bend this rule, as demonstrated with Bertram and Penelope.
  • Anti-Frustration Features:
    • It is not necessary to press the partner's arrows in Fashioned Values. They automatically press and add health to your bar.
    • The mechanic to push back the darkness in Death Lives is as simple as pressing Spacebar repeatedly. Failing does not get you closer to it.
  • Anyone Can Die: And it's true- you're better off not getting too used to play a character, since they could potentially become corrupted.
  • Big Damn Heroes:
    • In A Family Guy, Stewie and Brian.
    • In Rotten Family, Peter.
    • Inverted in Fashioned Values, where Quagmire and Joe are the ones to save Cleveland.
    • Subverted in Death Lives, where Boyfriend was there to help Peter struggle with his mourn.
    • In Final Fight, Quagmire.
    • In Aftermath, Stewie. Subverted in that his intervention was proven futile when Peter was absorbed by the rest and Synthol was formed.
    • In D.O.H, Bart.
    • In Bad Morning, Steve.
  • Bittersweet Ending: "The Final Showdown" ends as such, though leans more into the bitter side, as the Family Guy universe is outright in shambles, in part thanks to Seth himself also getting corrupted amidst the mess. The sweet side is that Stewie, Bertram and Penelope all managed to escape without getting corrupted themselves, likely to join BF in helping defend others from the Darkness, but Stewie is so overcome with grief that he indirectly caused the destruction of his own home.
  • Breaking the Fourth Wall: An in-universe example occurs during "The Final Showdown", with Stewie breaking into what's dubbed the "In-Between" to reach out to none other than his own creator, Seth MacFarlane. Unfortunately, in doing so, he leads Brian right to Seth, causing him to fall to the Darkness too.
  • The Bus Came Back:
  • Darker and Edgier: This mod is WAY gloomier for such a comedic show (albeit still in a dark sense) as Family Guy, which is expected for a What If? scenario with Pibby.
  • Duels Decide Everything: Like most other opponents in Friday Night Funkin', modded or otherwise, Boyfriend, Pibby and others go unscathed after the rap battle with the corrupted characters is over. Most of the time, at least.
  • Fearless Fool: Averted. Boyfriend, who's normally this in the base game and some other mods, has witnessed what had happened to his home world and lost Girlfriend as a result. Thus, he's more aware of the danger he faces than usual, even as he raps against his foes like he usually does. He even gets shocked with certain circumstances.
  • Foreshadowing: According to Soldier, Stewie appearing at the end of Fashioned Values is this.
  • Gameplay and Story Integration:
    • Why there are no more shooting notes after Fashioned Values, the closest being the punching arrows from Final Fight. Quagmire's crossbow gets destroyed by Stewie in Twinkle.
    • Why failing to shoot enough bullets in Fashioned Values doesn't simply end in a Game Over screen. Were Quagmire to die, Stewie would continue to be affected, Peter would have been killed by Ernie, and Stewie wouldn't have saved Vinny, thus leaving only Consuela as a survivor.
  • Guest Fighter: Pico in Stand Off and Mindless.
  • The Hero Dies:
    • Subverted. Boyfriend passes out due to the darkness by the end of D.O.H. He however is alive and well by the next song to battle Stalker Brian in the inside of his own mind.
  • Heroic BSoD: Peter experiences one in Death Lives upon seeing the visions of his family and Death surfing the darkness. Fortunately, Boyfriend helps him overcome this.
  • Mirror Boss: Most of the opponents can drain the player's health while singing their own notes, akin to Boyfriend's natural health recovery when singing.
  • Nice Job Breaking It, Hero: The plane would have probably not crashed were Quagmire to pilot the plane instead of Cleveland Jr.
  • Nice Job Fixing It, Villain: If Ernie had not held Peter back in the airport, the Guys wouldn't have found them, Rallo would have gotten every one in the plane affected, and Peter and Stewie would have either encountered each other in a different place, thus leaving the other three to become stronger to defeat them, or not met at all, and Stewie would have been corrupted again while trying to fight the other three. Either way, things would have involved Synthol, but no Stewie to struggle against it.
  • Non-Standard Game Over:
  • Spared by the Adaptation: It is now very common for the characters to free each other from the darkness.
  • Surprisingly Realistic Outcome:
    • Quagmire has never fully recovered from his encounter with Stewie. As a result, he gets corrupted by Rallo with extreme ease, then the plane starts falling, and the other three most certainly can't bring him back before the plane inevitably crashes.
    • Peter and Stewie are unable to defeat Quagmire, Cleveland and Joe all at the same time due to how weakened Peter is and Stewie being a baby, no matter how much technology they have. By the end of the song, Peter even gets absorbed and the four guys make Synthol, whom Stewie can't defeat, leaving him only to take his chance to leave after he seemingly enters its conscience and sees his father and allies closing in on him.
    • Neither can Stewie deal with every infectee in "The Final Showdown", so he ends up taking the leave and promising that he will save others from the same fate.
  • Updated Re-release: Is this to Friday Night Funkin': Corrupted Souls's Family Guy songs. Possibly because the former didn't have involvement from Weednose, the original composer for most of the songs.
  • Why Don't You Just Shoot Him?: Let's see...
    • Despite Cleveland being just mere centimeters away from him, Retep saw through the whole process of his uncorruption.
    • Quagmire doesn't shoot Stewie once in Twinkle, even when he still has his crossbow.
    • Stewie in "The Final Showdown". He doesn't shoot anyone other than Bertram and Penelope through the song.
