Trivia / Yu-Gi-Oh!: Capsule Monsters

Go To

  • Channel Hop: Whereas the original series aired on Kids' WB! in the US, this series aired on 4KidsTV due to that block's move to The CW, who weren't interested in anime programming.
  • Defictionalization: The Capsule Monsters game seen in this anime was given a real-life board game. Subverted though as this anime was in turn somewhat inspired by the Capsule Monster Chess game seen in the earlier chapters of the original manga.
  • Deleted Scene: The movie versions had several scenes cut for time included as bonus features, which were restored in the episodic releases on the Season 5 DVDs.
  • No Export for You: This series wasn't dubbed or released in Japan or other Asian territories. In a more traditional sense, the UK and Europe never got the feature-length edits of the series, and in the UK and Ireland, the series itself, whilst broadcast on Sky One and RTÉ Two, was never released on any physical medium until the fifth season was released on DVD in 2016, ten years after the original run.
  • Out of Order: Episodes 3 and 4 appeared online first shortly before the series aired.
  • Short Run in Peru: At a time when there was little to no information about the series, the first four episodes aired on Ireland's RTÉ Two between January 30th and February 2nd, 2006. A complete run in Ireland would air just over two weeks before the first episode of the arc aired in the US, with the UK's Sky One also airing it before America did.
  • The Shelf of Movie Languishment: The Latin American dub was recorded in 2006 and premiered on Nickelodeon the same year, but only the first few episodes were aired due to the channel removing the original Yu-Gi-Oh! in favor of Yu-Gi-Oh! GX. The rest of the dub was completly lost until 2018 when all season of Yu-Gi-Oh! were added to Netflix and Amazon Prime.
  • What Could Have Been: Despite being made for American audiences, the show does appear on the Studio Gallop website under the name Yu-Gi-Oh! Duel Monsters ALEX, so a Japanese release was probably considered at one point. Katsumi Ono, director of the series, said on Twitter that he would like to see the show released in Japan.
