- California Doubling: The movie supposedly takes place in post-apocalyptic California, despite being filmed in Italy. Those familiar with Rome might recognize the Omega headquarters and campus as the infamous Corviale, a kilometer-long public housing project in the outskirts of the city.
- Follow the Leader:
- Yet another Italian knock-off of a then-popular film; in this case, Mad Max 2: The Road Warrior. In the MST3K episode this prompted then host Joel to quip "This isn't Mad Max, it's Sad Max."
- From the Volume XVI DVD cover: "IT'S MADNESS TO THE MAX!"
- The film strongly resembles Megaforce as well.
- Ironically, the movie more closely resembles YA Dystopias written decades later.
