Trivia / Vs. Impostor

Go To

  • Ascended Fanon: Black is revealed to have turned on and killed Red and Green for their failures in V4. This is the plot of the fan mod Black's Betrayal, which features Black turning on the other Impostors and successfully disposing of them.
  • Based on a Dream: The idea for "Crewicide" and Dave came to the developers in a dream, explaining its slightly off-kilter nature.
  • Creator Backlash:
    • Vruzzen, the composer for "Finale", admitted to not being proud of the song, having composed it as a joke remix of "Defeat", and not expecting Clowfoe to like it, let alone put it in the mod as the Final Boss song for the story mode.
    • Adam McHummus, the composer for "Actin' Sus" as well as the removed song "Compromised Persona", admitted to disliking "Actin' Sus", having composed it as a joke, and never expecting Clowfoe to actually like it, let alone put it in the freeplay menu as part of the Version 1 songs.
  • Demand Overload: Within the first 7 hours of the V3 update, enough people downloaded the game to exceed the quota and make the download servers go down temporarily.
  • Died During Production: AmongUsFan24 (aka. Cooper Burrel), the owner of Red Mungus and Jorsawsee, as well as an artist of the mod, died of cancer just 17 days after V4 released, and months before V5 released. His FNF adaptations of Red Mungus and Jorsawsee were the last assets he ever created.
  • Dummied Out:
    • Actin’ Sus was a song in V1 of the mod but was removed due to Adam McHummus (the composer of the song) disliking the song. It was later brought back as a Freeplay song in V4, alongside the oldest version of "Sussus Moogus" (Renamed to "Alpha Moogus").
    • Multiple different dialogue portraits for various characters go unused in V3, including one for Green appearing, and one for Red getting scared of Boyfriend's ghost.
    • Pink has dialogue portraits for her impostor form, but they go unused due to the only song where she's revealed as one using cutscenes instead of dialogue boxes.
    • The songs "Double Trouble", "Triple Trouble", "Monochrome", "Ominous", "Insane" and "Stealth" go unused in V4's release, but are still playable through debugging. However, as of this time, Double Trouble, Insane and Stealth have been entirely removed from the files as a whole, but can still be found in old Dev builds via source code.
  • In Memoriam: An animated sprite as a background character in "Monotone Attack" pays tribute to AmongUsFan24, an artist for the mod who died shortly after V4's release. A fundraiser started by St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital and promoted by Rareblin (one of the composers) was also held in his honor.
  • Parody Assistance:
    • "Sussus Nuzzus" shares a composer with the song it spoofs, "No More Nuzzles" by Lunaxis.
    • Innersloth, the company behind the original Among Us, provided uncompressed vocals for use in the Henry Stickmin week.
  • What Could Have Been:
    • One of the songs initially planned for V4 was a remix of Monochrome featuring Deadpostor, a dead Impostor that served as an Expy of Gold. It was scrapped due to controversy surrounding Adam McHummus, the composer of the original song, resulting in Adam leaving the team, with the Freeplay song "Esculent" serving as a replacement.
    • In a similar manner, one of the songs initially planned for V4 was “Skinny Nuts 2”, which was intended to be a joke song, but it got scrapped because of the joke getting old and unfunny over time, with the freeplay song "Monotone Attack" serving as a replacement.
    • A cutscene after Finale was planned in which Boyfriend would reach out to a defeated Black, with him, Red, Yellow and Green celebrating the match they just played, only for Red to attain a familiar glint in their eye before pulling out a gun.
    • Player, Mr. Egg and Novisor were originally going to make an appearance, but they were scrapped for the following reasons:
      • For Player and Mr. Egg, the cutscenes that they were to appear in were never finished on time.
      • For Novisor, his song was only a joke to mislead fans.
    • In the unused Triple Kill song, Gray’s father was originally going to be an opponent as a corpse, but was scrapped and replaced by Gray (his son) for unknown reasons.

  • Word of Gay: An folder in the mod's files reveals the sexualities and genders of many of the mod's characters, including:
    • Red and Green, who are gay and dating. This was revealed prior from a Discord interview one of the mod's staff members.
    • Yellow, who is bisexual.
    • Black, who is genderfluid.
    • White and Maroon, who are gay and dating. It was also revealed that White is non-binary while Maroon is transmasculine.
    • Gray, who is aromantic and asexual.note
    • Pink, who is a demigirl.
    • Jorsawsee, who is non-binary.
    • Orange, who is gay.
    • Red Mungus, who is straight.
    • And Tomongus, who is Brazilian.
  • Troubled Production: Like many mods, production on this mod has gone through literal hell, in this case during the V4 update, and it is rather surprising this mod managed to last long enough to release the update. To go over what happened during the production of V4:
    • A complete engine change.
    • A child groomer known as Creepercrunch has been on staff and fired, with the rest of the team having to restart development thanks to the allegations against and subsequent departure of Adam McHummus, the former musician, as his work had been the focal point of V4.
    • Some leaks of incomplete builds and to-be-shown characters and songs were put into the public eye without the developer's permission.
  • Word of God:
    • Red and Green are dating, and they have an adopted child in the form of Yarlowmando Jr. While alluded to in V4, the specifics aren't mentioned.
    • Pink and Yellow are married, and the two of them have had three kids. It’s also been stated that Pink’s real name is actually Penelope, while Yellow’s real name is Yarlowmando. The latter was later jossed, as Clowfoe revealed that Yarlowmando is the name of Yellow's son, the other sons being named "Manny" and "Gumpy".
    • Orange is a serious, reliable 5-star chef. He also has a family, that being his brother Butcherus Totinus and his adoptive son Orange Dude.
    • Black is a digital entity that has somehow entered the game. In a recent dev stream, it was later revealed they had a pet frog named Jerry as a child, who was sadly run over by a car, deeply saddening them. Hence, they wear a cone to remember their lost friend.
    • Gray is a part of a family, that being his deceased mother Ayaulim and his lost father Mansur, who has yet to see his son alive again.
    • The devs revealed many names of the characters, including:
      • Maroon, whose name is "Ash Amonglita Maroon".
      • Gray’s father, whose name is "Mansur". note
      • Gray, whose name was recently revealed to be "Chuu Chuu". note
      • Orange, whose name is "Chefogus". His full name was also recently revealed to be "Chefungus Totinus".
      • Detective, whose name is "Bennet".
      • Pink, whose name is "Penelope".
      • Yellow, whose name is "Yarlowmando".note
      • And Green, whose name is "Mitori".note
