Trivia / Vine Realms

Go To

  • Acting for Two: Almost all of the characters are voiced by one of the streamers represented in the game. They all also voice their own avatars. For example, Vinny voices both himself and Fast Hedgehog, and Joel voiced himself and Grand Dad. (Nearly all of the non-streamer characters' generic Voice Grunting was provided by Desert.)
  • All-Star Cast: In terms of Vinesauce, at least. Vinny, Joel, Desert, Lupin, Imakuni, Direboar, RevScarecrow, Limes, and Desert all appear both as characters and as their voice actors.
  • Author Phobia: Centipedes for Vinny. He didn't know they were going to be so prominent despite having input on the game. He takes it in stride.
  • Descended Creator: All of the streamer avatars in the game are voiced by the streamers themselves. Most of the voice clips were simply taken from random streams since the game uses Voice Grunting, though they all had a few that were rerecorded so that no background noise would be present. Narry appears in a particularly well hidden cameo. Exhausting the dialogue of the Infested Shroom just outside the Necromancer's Tower eventually gets a message signed by him, thanking the player for their support and directing them to the live role play the tower is taken from.
  • Doing It for the Art: The dev team, particularly Narry, made the game as a charity incentive but went above and beyond to make it as good as possible in the time they had, so that they could show their appreciation for the community and streamers in the best way possible. Plus, even after the charity event was over, Narry released a quality of life patch to make the game a little more accessible even though the player base after the charity streams were over has dwindled from thousands to tens.
  • Fandom Nod: Most of the jokes and memes referenced in the game only gained the life they have now because of fans, which is given nods all throughout the game. For example, Grand Dad gives an exasperated speech about being tired of being referenced as a playful punch for how popular that meme has become.
  • Permanent Placeholder: The dev room suggests that "Vine Realms" was just a placeholder name with a few other potential working titles being mentioned. Obviously the placeholder made it into the finished product.
