- Completely Different Title: Both the English title Elusive Samurai and the Spanish title Héroe Fugitivo are imperfect translations of the original Nige Jouzu no Wakagimi, which specifically refers to a young noble ("wakagimi") who is skilled at escaping or fleeing ("nige jouzo").
- Inspiration for the Work: In the author's comment section of Volume 1, Matsui states that he was great at dodging dodgeballs in his youth, so Tokiyuki and his elusive abilities were designed to recreate the thrill of feeling like a hero after being the last one standing at the end of a dodgeball game.
