• Approval of God: Season 2 uses Greek Fire's "A Real Life" as its theme song. Go to the official video on the band's channel and you'll see that they liked almost every comment talking about how SAO Abridged brought them there, suggesting the band doesn't mind that the show gave the song a Colbert Bump.
• As Himself: Fluffles the cat is listed As Himself in the credits.
• God Never Said That: Many detractors who are fans of the original series say that SWE hate the original series and makes it to bash the original, in comparison to DBZ Abridged where the people making it are fans and makes it more as a love letter to the original. However, SWE are also fans of the original SAO and say they don't hate the original series either. They are even friends with people involved in the dub, as evident by Bryce Papenbrook being in a video.
• Missing Trailer Scene: The opening montage for each episode shows Heathcliff blocking a strike from The Skull Reaper, but once the series gets to that point, it's instead a Zero-Effort Boss.
• The Other Darrin: Several major characters other than Kirito have their voice actors replaced at the onset of Episode 5. xbubblemunkyx replaces Misanda as Asuna, Dizzasta replaces Jragoswinn as Klein/BallsDeep69, and Octopimp replaces Jragoswinn as Tiffany^note AKA Agil in the original Sword Art Online. Klein will have to be recast in future appearances again after allegations came against Dizzasta.
  • Schmitt was voiced by Chase Face in Episode 5 before being replaced by Kaggyfilms in all later appearances.
• Real Song Theme Tune: Episodes 1 to 11 use the Thirty Seconds to Mars song "This is War" for the opening. From episode 12 onward the opening is "A Real Life" by Greek Fire instead.
• Role-Ending Misdemeanor: Something Witty Entertainment announced in March 2023 that they would be cutting ties with Dizzasta (the voice of Klein) following allegations of abuse, including from his ex-wife and Asuna VA xbubblemunkyx.
• Throw It In!: Occurs frequently according to Word of God, but here are some confirmed examples.
  • While recording in the booth, xbubblemunkyx improvised Asuna's Spiteful Spit to Oberon at the end of Episode 12.
  • In Episode 14, Recon's fearful screaming was improvised by his actor. After the episode first premiered on Twitch, the creators said that they had the actor do multiple takes of it, but went with the one that included a reference to Assassination Classroom.
• What Could Have Been: During the 10th Anniversary Stream it was revealed that Asuna would have been recast to Sydsnap in from Episode 5 onwards had Carrie (xbubblemonkyX) not submitted the final audition last-minute.
