Trivia / Star Ocean: The Second Story

• Dummied Out:
  • Curiously enough, an arrangement of "Into the Legend", the ending theme of Dragon Quest III, is in the game, but is obviously unused.
  • Chisato's favorite food, fruit sandwiches, is unable to be made in the game by normal means. This means that her favorite food on her status screen will forever be blank.
• Milestone Celebration: For its twenty-fifth anniversary, the game received a ground-up remake to bring the gameplay up to par with later installments.
• No Export for You:
  • Blue Sphere has not been released stateside at all.
  • The PlayStation 4 and PlayStation Vita ports of Second Evolution have only been released in Japan.
• The Original Darrin: Just like the Switch version of the first game, the original Japanese actors were called back to do the 2023 remake's voiced parts, with the player being able to choose between them and the cast from Second Evolution.
• The Other Darrin: The original game, the anime, and the remake all have different casts, with the exception of Star Ocean regular Hiroki Tochi in the games.
• Posthumous Credit: Setting the voice in the 2023 remake into the PSP remake's Japanese version allows Bowman to retain the pre-recorded voices of the late Keiji Fujiwara.
• Sequel First: The Second Story was the first Star Ocean released outside Japan.
