Trivia / Stampy's Lovely World

Go To

Due to the sheer length of this work, spoilers for Episodes 1-658 are unmarked. You Have Been Warned.

  • Approval of God:
    • Any fanwork which has been given a shout-out in the Love Garden is this.
    • 'Stampy's "Lovelier" World' is an revamped, improved version of the original Lovely World which Stampy himself tours and shows off in a series of videos.
    • Despite being an obvious hindrance to discussion on what actually happens in his respective videos, Stampy approves of his viewers' ranting about nostalgia in his comments.
    • For a more specific example, after Stampy misspelled "Father Christmas" as "Father Crispmas" in Episode 733, "Christmas Invasion", some fans started a joke petition to rename Santa (in the UK) after the misspelling, in tribute to the episode. They eventually got Stampy's approval to do this.
stampylongnose: A very worthy cause that has my full support.
  • Ascended Fanon:
    • The 'Shear Fun' game was based on the suggestion of a fan, 'g8 monst3r', who was added to the Love Garden in Episode 86, "Slumber Party".
    • The 'Fromple Domple' minigame was named by a livestream viewer and Twitter user through a strange series of coincidences, as revealed in Episode 688, "Fromple Domple".
  • Blooper: Stampy accidentally uploaded "Push Pit", the 587th episode of the series, without any edits. There was no commentary, no cuts whatsoever (i.e. Stampy "using the teleporter" showcased him going into creative mode and flying to the location), and revealed that Sqaishey was playing as Polly Reindeer. To top if off, Stampy was actually out when the video was uploaded, so it stayed up for a few more hours than he would have liked.
  • Content Leak:
    • Any instance where C418's Creative Mode music is heard playing in the background of a video is technically Stampy leaking what he did behind the scenes, despite making an effort to cover it up, as it shows that he was in Creative Mode beforehand for long enough that the music for it started playing. It, of course, switches back to Survival Mode music afterwards.
    • During one of his livestreams with Squid and Sqaishey, Stampy accidentally went to his sketchbook world while dealing with server issues, briefly showing off a few future SLW builds such as the windmill. After the stream ended, this part was edited out of the video. (Stampy clicks on the sketchbook world at 13:01, the cut occurs at around 13:28.)
    • The unedited version of Episode 587, "Push Pit", was accidentally released before the final cut, revealing several behind the scenes details. It was quickly deleted and replaced by the final cut, but not before several viewers had uploaded it to their own channels.
    • Episode 704, "Corridors", was made private a short while after it was uploaded and was re-released the following day due to the kill feed (which showed who was playing Polly Reindeer in the episode) not being cut out of the initial upload.
  • Creator Backlash: Pretty much the second he finished it, Stampy hated his original mob trap. It was purposefully built to look "evil" and "ugly", the design was quite amateur, updates had made it so it didn't even work anymore, and to top it all off, it was located right next to his house, so he saw this ugly building he hated at the start of every. Single. Video. After nine years, Stampy finally demolished and replaced it, with the only reason it remained as long as it did being sentimental value due to it being one of the first things he ever built and, again, you saw it at the start of every video, so it was a very recognizable landmark.
  • Crossover: In the world of Wonder Quest, Stampy is clearly seen being teleported via portals between worlds, and a portal between the Lovely World and Wonderberg was installed in his Cool House.
  • Fandom Nod: In Beyond The Blocks (one of the Halloween shorts from Episode 564, "Scary Movies"), the host ponders why none of the Helpers talk in video and what happened to the older Helpers, both of which are questions frequently asked by the fandom.
  • Follow the Leader: The series set a trend for Minecraft YouTubers to give shout-outs on signs, a la Love Garden. Stampy comments on this in a Battle minigame stream. It also ended up in people imitating the entire series in their own image, in various manners, mostly from smaller creators. A notable example of a whole series imitation is with SB737.
  • Invisible Advertising: One of the series' biggest issues is that it lacks promotional material, despite having a story, unlike most Minecraft series, the thumbnails serving as the only visual material that actually "promotes" it in a way. While this ends up contributing to the mystery of the lore, it also prevents people from finding it easily and the only way to find those videos is when they're uploaded raw onto his channel.
  • Keep Circulating the Tapes: All of the original uploads of the first 31 episodes have been made private by Stampy due to him constantly swearing throughout the videos, which was inappropriate for his newfound audience of children. He would later reupload them with the swearing cut out, however.
  • Lost Episode: The episodes that are part of the series but are set outside of the Lovely World itself and instead a tour of a Helper's Minecraft world are absent from Stampy's channel, being part of the first 31 episodes that had Stampy swearing and also not being set in the series' main setting.
  • Milestone Celebration:
    • Every hundredth episode has been celebrated with special festivities, from world tours to the attacks Hit The Target causes.
    • Stampy's 2,000 subscribers special takes place in the Lovely World in the form of a world tour.
    • Episode 69, "The Show Must Go On" celebrates Stampy getting 4,000 subscribers on his channel.
    • Stampy's 500,000 subscribers celebration involves uploading a Lovely World episode every day for an entire week — from Episode 138, "Boat Ride" to Episode 145, "Kitty Cat".
    • Episode 749, "Ten Years Later..." celebrates the ten-year anniversary of the Lovely World series.
  • Official Fan-Submitted Content:
    • Episode 200, "Lovely World Tribute" features the song "In My Lovely World" as submitted by the fan Francis J as the winner of the 'Sing For Stampy' contest.
    • A variation occurs for Episode 719, "I Won", as the clips of 'memorable moments involving cake' featured were all suggested by fans on Twitter (in the guise of getting ideas for a "Top 10" video), but were ultimately sourced from Stampy's own videos.
  • Outdated by Canon:
    • Stampy's Lovely Book, released in late 2015. The information in it is only up to that point, meaning that everything up to the series' end isn't included in it. This is especially apparent with the map of the titular World, which only features the builds up that point as well.
    • Every fan recreation of the Lovely World during the series' runtime became outdated upon new releases. When the series ended, this was obviously no longer the case due to the absence of updates.
  • Pet Name Trend Starter: Many pets — cats, dogs, hamsters, etc. — have been named after Mr. Stampy Cat. Stampy comments on this in Episode 523, "Barnaby's Job", and uses the opportunity to shout-out all the "animal Stampys" in the Love Garden, on top of the owner of a hamster named after him.
  • Real-Life Relative:
    • Sqaishey Quack and Stampy are married, and they were dating during Sqaishey's time as a Helper.
    • Netty Plays, who appeared as a Helper in a few episodes, is Stampy's real-life sister.
  • Referenced by...: Episode 1, "Hero in Residence", of Minecraft: Story Mode Season 2 mentions Stampy having cake for breakfast "every morning", and his house in Beacontown is based on his Lovely World house and Love Garden. Stampy interprets it as his character getting homesick for the SLW, though it's MCSM canon that he settled in Beacontown.
  • Role-Ending Misdemeanor: Lee was kicked off of the series after it was apparently found he had sexually assaulted a woman; though it was later revealed that the accusation was false, he never returned to the series again. The In-Universe explanation given for his absence was that he left to track down Hit The Target and help others the way he had helped Stampy. Lee then posted a video in 2018 to explain the exact reason why he left the series, but was later disproven by Sqaishey and Stampy themselves over five years later.
  • Serendipity Writes the Plot:
    • Stampy's world is so old, he didn't have access to any new materials from new biomes for a very long time. In a series that's all about creating buildings and minigames, not having access to new materials and mechanics is a pretty big problem. Granted, Stampy could have just gotten the materials by going into Creative Mode, but Stampy tries to be subtle about the staged aspects of Lovely World. As a result, Stampy would get around this problem by having "Santa" give him those new materials each Christmas.
    • The reason that Stampy couldn't make his train operate like he did with his other vehicles is because the Bedrock Edition of Minecraft caused the "move forward and layer the interior on top with a green screen" effect to not be able to work as moving forward would cause the player to slant to the left, meaning he couldn't make himself move forward only.
  • Series Hiatus:
    • Stampy went on one starting after Halloween 2018 for personal reasons. He briefly returned during an attack by the Big Bad almost a year later, then finally makes a triumphant return on 19 August 2020, ten months after the previous episode. Even the episode signaling the end of the hiatus was titled "Back to Business".
    • Another hiatus began after Episode 686, "Santa's Surprise", where Stampy resumed his tour of 'Stampy's "Lovelier" World' after its version of the Funland had partially finished construction. Lovely World resumed after he finished touring the updated parts of the world.
    • Another short one begins after Episode 733, "Christmas Invasion", because Stampy (and Sqaishey) contracted COVD-19 in real life, and went on to take a break. The Lovely World series made a return on 9 February 2022, about a month and a half later.
  • What Could Have Been:
    • Stampy's Behind the Scenes videos show a lot of this. Many shops and minigames could have had a very different design and mechanism than how they ended up in the Lovely World.
      • The 'Sheep Shuttle' minigame originally used a piston staircase rather than slime blocks.
      • In 'Lovely Inc', Bengy was originally planned to handle security rather than advertising; Corey was initially assigned research and development (due to him being Constantly Curious) rather than editing; and Benton could have been put in charge of block gathering instead of interviewing.
      • The 'Fire and Water' minigame initially had a less colourful design.
      • The airport was originally supposed to be green rather than orange.
    • Francis J, winner of the 'Sing For Stampy' contest, was supposed to appear in Episode 200, but was unable to due to not having Minecraft on the Xbox.
    • An In-Universe example — in Episode 670, "Hacked", Stampy theorized that after hacking into his Minecraft account, Hit The Target and Veeva Dash could delete his entire World if they wanted to.
  • Word of God: On Twitter, Sqaishey posted this alignment chart made by them and Stampy, which lists the character alignments of the cast in the later episodes.
