Trivia / Shimoneta

Go To

  • Adaptation First: The anime adaptation is only thing in the franchise that has been licensed.
  • Character Outlives Actor: Miyu Matsuki, Anna's Japanese voice actress, passed away not long after the anime ended. It's believed that this is one of the reasons why a second season never happened.
  • Crossdressing Voices: The voice acting for Oboro is done by women in both the Japanese version (Sumire Uesaka) and the English dub (Megan Vander Pluym).
  • Dueling Works: With Prison School, which is actually funny considering that they were produced by the same studio.
  • He Also Did: The manga adaptation was drawn by Yuzuki N', a well-known ero-artist who's made regular manga before, like for Photo Kano. Despite this, the anime manages to be lewder in parts.
  • No Export for You: Despite the anime adaptation's popularity in the English-speaking community, neither the light novels nor the manga adaptation have been officially licensed outside of Japan.
  • Reality Subtext: Concerning Japan's fierce censorship laws.
  • Sleeper Hit: Before the Summer 2015 anime season started, this series wasn't on anybody's radar. However, after the first episode aired, it started gaining traction due to its unique premise and genuine humor. Its popularity would skyrocket following Anna's now infamous cookie scene, which quickly gained meme status. As a result, Shimoneta became a sleeper hit, with Anna and her "love nectar" being one of, if not the main draw of the series.
