Trivia / Robotech: The Shadow Chronicles

Go To

  • Acting for Two: In the Mexican dub, Jesús Barrero voices both Rick Hunter and Scott Bernard, being the first time both characters appears at the same time and also because he voiced them previously in the original 80s dub.
  • Channel Hop: Originally released to DVD and Blu-ray from FUNimation, but their license expired, and the film was later reissued by A&E/Lionsgate on DVD-only.
  • Development Hell: The movie sequel entitled "Shadow Rising" is still in development hell.
  • The Other Darrin: A very weird case that involves the Mexican Spanish dub: The Mexican Spanish dub use the original voice cast (or at least the remaining living/still-active voice actors) from the first dub used in the 80s, rather than the new one created in the 2000s for the remastered version, due to the awful reception that dub had between the older and casual fans, note  despise the new 2000s dub was intended to replace the older one. Basically, the original 80s voice cast are The Other Darrin for the intended new cast.
    • In fact, just to make sure they are using the original 80s cast, Harmony Gold put the name of the Mexican voice actors in the Latin American edition of the OVA, before the names of the original English voice cast, a privilege normally reserved for blockbuster animated films from Disney, Dreamworks Animation, and other big names in animation.
    • Melanie MacQueen, who voiced Lisa Hayes, Marlene Rush, and Ariel in the original English language Robotech dub, reprises the role of Marlene but not her alien doppleganger Ariel - instead Ariel is voiced by Kari Wahlgren. Exactly why this took place is unknown given that other actors from the original series - Tony Oliver for Rick Hunter, Gregory Snegoff for Scott Bernard, etc. - were on hand reprising their roles (or playing new ones), even though Kari is quite good in the part.
  • What Could Have Been: Before production started, it was known as Robotech: Shadow Force. The title changed eventually.
    • The movie was supposed to be followed by "Shadow Rising", but relevant trademarks expired. According to Kevin Mc Keever and Tommy Yune, all attempts to follow it up were left in limbo since Sony wants everyone involved in the Robotech animation to be involved in a live-action version of Robotech.
