• B-Team Sequel: TOSE assisted with the development of Resident Evil Zero, explaining the simultaneous production of this game and Resident Evil (Remake). It makes a lot of sense when the intro mentions Sheena Island from Resident Evil: Gun Survivor, a game TOSE made after Resident Evil 3: Nemesis.
• Meme Acknowledgment: One of the DLC T-shirts Rebecca can wear is a picture of Jill holding a sandwich literally called "Jill Sandwich".
• What Could Have Been: Zero was initially developed as an Nintendo 64 game due to the short load times that a cartridge medium would have provided for the game's character-switching system compared to the PlayStation's CD-ROM media. After the remake of the first game was announced, development was switched to the Nintendo GameCube to put Zero's graphics on par with it and make the story more consistent. Another reason for the switch was that the game was so large and ambitious for the N64, it would had to been put on two cartridges. One of the most notable changes between the two versions is that the N64 version would have confirmed that the hand that Joseph Frost found in the original Resident Evil was indeed Edward Dewey's. Another sub-element of this change is the existence of the Eliminators, T-Virus infected baboons. Originally, the game was going to include a singular primate B.O.W., in the form of a giant white monkey-like beast called "Wesker's Monster", which was to serve as a boss encounter, but it was reworked into an early equivalent of the Hunter instead, giving rise to the Eliminators. There were also plans to put a human/tarantula hybrid monster into the game. It would have appeared human from the front, but have the body of a tarantula as a part of its back.
• Word of God: The developers explained that the reason why the Crimson Heads were not included in Zero, after being retroactively introduced in the remake of the first game, is because Rebecca and Billy don't spend as much time around the same place as Alpha Team does in the latter.
