Trivia / Rainbow High

  • Acting for Two:
    • Anairis Quiñones voices both Poppy and Skyler, which makes them being roommates a little funny.
    • Tara Sands voices both Ruby and Ms. Morton.
    • Laura Stahl voices Sunny, Luna and Avery.
    • Jenny Yokobori voices both Jade and Ainsley. In "All About Aidan" she also supplies the voice of the tangerine-haired girl backgrounder.
    • Zach Aguilar voices River and the brunette boy backgrounder in the same episode.
  • Creator's Oddball: Aside from the Fantasy Friends Spin-Off (which was a Rainbow Surprise original that burned off under the new brand), this is MGA Entertainment's first doll line in the late 2010s/early 2020s (besides later series of Na Na Na Surprise) that lacks a heavy blind bag/surprise toy gimmick. The Rainbow High brand is more alike to earlier fashion doll brands of the 2010s, in which waves of new characters were released alongside variations of established characters in different designs and outfits (ex: the Cheer line).
  • Cowboy BeBop at His Computer: Initial announcements for the Costume Ball dolls had Lola's costume listed as a werewolf rather than a werecat.
  • Descended Creator: Jenny Yokobori, who plays Jade and Ainsley, also was in charge of voice casting.
  • Edited for Syndication: The series has been modified for Netflix to adjust to a 22-minute episode format. Other changes include:
    • Many scenes if not all of episode 1 being reanimated to match the livelier quality of the later episodes.
    • Transition scenes being added in between scenes, and a number of episodes being edited to take place directly after the previous one.
    • “The Gr8 Hairscape” now taking place after “Gurlfriend Take Over” instead of after “Poppy Rowan, Keeping the Beats Goin’”.
    • A couple of scenes being reordered, such as the second flash-forward to Jade’s line “This never would have happened if Bella was still here!” being moved from the final moments of the first episode to after the events of episode 8, when Bella leaves.
    • An added Ending Theme with 2D animation.
  • Throw It In!: Jade's cut-off line about a "pretty sick" yogurt parfait in "Going Viral". Jenny Yokobori said in her Instagram was actually an improvised line because the producers asked for some conversation going on during the scene, and was surprised when they told her they put it in the episode.
  • Word of Saint Paul: Tweets made by Ivy Dupler, Marisa Golding’s voice actress, hint that Marisa is Jewish like herself.
  • What Could Have Been:
    • In prototypes Jade had the same complexion as Skylar but was then made fair-skinned. The next green character, Karma Nichols, has the darker skin tone Jade initially had.
    • In her original artwork and first commercial, Jade had a bandage on her nose. This was removed in later versions, but shows up in her version for Rainbow Junior High.
    • Bella Parker's last name was originally going to be "Harper".
    • On as seen of some packaging of Bella’s doll, Krystal Bailey originally had a lighter complexion comparable to Skyler's or Avery's. Her doll was changed to have a darker skin tone, and as such her illustration on the boxes of later-released wave 2 dolls have changed.
      • She was also originally going to be named “Jett Dawson”. The name got lent to another character.
    • The 2021 Target exclusive Kia Hart was going to come with a playset.
