Trivia / Puppy in My Pocket: Adventures in Pocketville

Go To

  • Acting for Two: Given that the US and UK dubs have a very small and limited cast, this is to be expected.
    • Julie-Ann Dean is the voice actress for Kate, Princess Ava, Balloon, and Mela in the UK dub (with the former redubbed by Stephanie Sheh for the US dub and Balloon and Mela also redubbed for this dub), as well as minor characters Caroline, Goldie, Pia, Phoebe, and Beatrix.
    • Stephanie Sheh not only voices Kate but select other female human characters in the US dub (with the exception of adult characters).
    • Lorraine Parsloe not only voices Krakia and Durillia but several minor characters, including Dot, Annabelle, Emily, Maggie, Flipper, Jenny, Ribbon, Claudia, Bella, Slowpoke, and Doctor Copper.
    • Joanna Ruiz is the voice actress for Eva, but she also voices several minor characters including Juno, Molly, Kiki, as well as male characters such as Liam, Stephan, Scratch, Kevin, and a male chick who appears in White as a Ghost.
    • Wayne Forester, voice actor for Magic exclusively in the UK dub and Danny in both UK and US dubs, voices several other male characters including Evershell, Koty, Baldo (the bear chef), Swimmy, and Robbie.
    • Katherine Wilson voices both Eva and Krakia in the prototype English dub.
    • Richard Epcar voices both Danny and Zull in the prototype English dub.
    • Katie Leigh voices both Mela and surprisingly, Durillia. Two characters with two different personalities.
    • Reba West voices both Eva and Maria in the prototype English dub.
  • Bad Export for You: The only figurines North American countries have received of this show were those of the Flair release (which were also released in the UK). These figurines were originally slated to be release in spring of 2012, but due to circumstances possibly relating to the dwindling popularity of the show there it was pushed all the way to 2013.
  • Bonus Material: The Italian releases of the series on DVD also came with goodies such as pins, fridge magnets, and temporary tattoos of the characters.
  • Crossdressing Voices:
    • Joanna Ruiz voices Liam, Stephan, Kevin, the unnamed male chick who appears in White as a Ghost, and Scratch (the lion cub from Good Manners).
    • Julie-Ann Dean voices Nail (the tiger cub from Good Manners), a boy actor dressed as a prince who appears in Nearly, and an unnamed boy who appears in part 2 of Kate's Birthday.
    • Lorraine Parsloe voices Lucas and Mark in the episode A Gift for Avanote .
  • Dawson Casting: Much of the child characters including Kate are voiced by adults. Pretty unrealitstic.
  • Development Hell: According to the Instagram of StePandaBlue, who worked on the show, there was going to be a film based on the show with her being the storyboard artist, but was cancelled due to unknown circumstances.
  • Dueling Shows: With My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic, as they both revolve around Talking Animal characters and a fictional kingdom run by them. Adventures in Pocketville didn't become as well-known and liked as FIM.
  • Fake Nationality: Happens with some characters.
    • Several characters in the first few episodes of the first English dub, such as Ava, Mela, and Maria, have slight Italian accents although are voiced by American voice actors.
    • Martina is an Italian girl who moved to the Big City, however she is voiced by Julie-Ann Dean, a British voice actress, who does not put on an Italian accent.
      • Same goes for her mother, Mary, voiced by Lorraine Parsloe, who also speaks with a British accent.
    • Fake Australian: Koty, who speaks with an Aussie accent, is voiced by British voice actor Wayne Forester.
    • Fake Scot: Wallace is voiced by Wayne Forester, an English voice actor.
  • International Coproduction: Between Mondo TV and Giochi Preziosi in Italy, MEG in Canada, and (possibly, as US sources cite Mondo TV as being behind the animation instead) SEK Studio in North Korea.
  • Late Export for You: The toys, which released in US markets in 2013. They were originally slated to be released in the spring of 2012, but were delayed due to unknown circumstances.
  • Newbie Boom: 2017-2021 saw a boom in fans of this series, especially in alternate universes (AUs) and original characters. Many notable fanfictions such as Pocketville Lost Diamonds and Nihonverse Pocketville were created during the boom.
  • No Budget: Due to the Limited Animation and cases of Lip Lock, this may be the case. The ambiguity of what studio animated this, be it Mondo TV or SEK Studio, may contribute to this, especially if it's the latter given that it's based in North Korea of all countries.
  • No Export for You: The Giochi Preziosi figurines were never released in North America, making them collector's items for American collectors.
    • Same goes for the magazines and activity books.
  • What Could Have Been: In the original proto-trailer, Kate's father leaves for work instead of her mother, and she takes on a much younger appearance and different outfit. Pocketville resembles an Italian villa and Dot is chosen for Kate instead of Magic, who already has Ava's collar despite Ava already being present.
