Pocketville Lost Diamonds
is a Puppy in My Pocket: Adventures in Pocketville fanfiction by PocketKingdom.
Months after her return to Pocketville, Princess Ava still has frequent nightmares about her ordeal with the Pet Buster even when she's trying to return to her normal life. She even misses her sister Eva, which no one would truly understand. The Pet Buster suddenly wreaks havoc on Pocketville and steal one of the Friendship Heart's sister jewels. Ava and her friends must embark on a journey to get all of the Magic Diamonds before he does.
It has a sequel, Obscured Dolls.
Tropes:
- Adaptation Expansion: This fanfiction has a lot more lore and background information than the canon show.
- Aerith and Bob: Many characters such as Ambra and Komorebi have quite unique names while there are characters with the usual given names such as Edward, Emma, Jocelyne, and the canon characters.
- The Alcoholic: Winnie. She would often go out to get drunk and eventually come home to yell at Balloon and Ito.
- Alien Blood: Felis aulicus cats bleed of blue, sparkling blood. They're literal Blue Bloods.
- Alternate Universe Fic: Doesn't stray too far from canon territory, however.
- Anthropomorphic Zig-Zag: The Pocketville denizens all have paws that work like human hands (and have thumbs). Which would explain how Edward, Ava, and William are able to play a piano.
- Anti-Hero:
- Eva. Though she has quite an aloof personality, she does not side with the Pet Buster in this fanfiction.
- Also Alice, Eva’s significant other. She is also incredibly rebellious but also takes a hating towards the Pet Buster.
- Big Bad: The Pet Buster, who plans on taking over the Pocket Kingdom once he obtains all of the diamonds.
- Break the Cutie: All of the characters get broken in many different ways.
- Younger Balloon in Chapter 22 of Volume I. Her mother Winnie torments her due to all the alcohol she consumed and even witnessed her hurt her grandmother Ito, who’s taken care of little Balloon in place of Winnie.
- Ava and Eva as well, experiencing a Trauma Conga Line of losing their parents and finding out that their grandmothers aren’t what they seem.
- Bright Castle: The Pocketville Castle has a theme inspired by that of Baroque and Rococo period art and architecture.
- Creepy Doll: Talia owned a collection of dolls that are said to be ominously creepy. It doesn’t help that they’re human dolls owned by a cat. One of the dolls has a tape recorder that has Talia's message about killing her son Edward.
- Dark Fic: Takes on a much grimmer motif than the show it's based on.
- Dies Wide Open: This is how Steel Wool dies.
- Disappeared Dad:
- Both Emma and Edward grew up without ever meeting their fathers.
- Also, Edward was also dead prior to the events of both the canon show and this fanfiction, having been killed in an avalanche while he was horseback riding. He was almost never present in Balloon’s life, having left her in the care of her grandmother and her alcoholic mother.
- G-Rated Drug: Comet Trace, a purple flower that is said to give happiness to those who consume it at first but eventually gets people addicted. One of the later symptoms is nausea.
- Inter Species Romance: Majority of the characters seemed to have a liking towards the opposite species of them.
- Ava with William.
- Eva with Alice.
- Lady Drunk: A non-human example, Winnie is Balloon's mother who often gets drunk while out of the home.
- Missing Mom:
- Ava and Eva’s mother Emma has been deceased prior to the events of the show and this fanfiction, having been a victim of anaphylaxis.
- Balloon’s mother Winnie eventually became this, having disappeared under unknown circumstances. Ito speculates that it might be because she wanted to find another lover.
- Orphaned Etymology:
- The month of July is mentioned by Queen Jocelyne when she was discussing with the other royals about when her daughter Emma's wedding will occur.
- The day Monday is mentioned by Winnie in a letter she sent to Edward.
- Posthumous Character:
- Ava and Eva's parents Edward and Emma as well as their grandmothers from both sides, Talia and Jocelyne.
- Violet, the cave guardian. However, she turns out to be the disguise of the vengeful spirit of Talia.
- Precision F-Strike:
- Ava, who is known to be a graceful and noble princess, ends up swearing at the Pet Buster in chapters 38 and 39. Something she wouldn’t normally do.
- Danny lets out a swear when panicking after Steel Wool gets wounded.
"We need a doctor! WE NEED A F*CKING DOCTOR! IS SOMEONE THERE?!" - Really Royalty Reveal: Musika, the so-called half-sister of Ava and Eva…turned out to be Balloon the Royal Guard all along.
- Snow Means Death: Pretty much a huge symbolism in this fanfiction.
- In the snowy regions surrounding the Iced Lake, the Pet Buster lets out a gunshot that scares off Ambra and the other horses, knocking Ava and the Royal Guards into the snow and letting them nearly freeze to death.
- Talia was the previous duchess of the region, being a literal cold-hearted cat who wants nothing but power from the royal family.
- Edward ends up killed in an avalanche by his mother’s accomplices.
- Vague Age: Averted for most characters.
- Ava and Eva are 22.
- Mela is 17.
- Veganopia: Well, not quite. The characters don't eat meat from the bodies of other animals, but instead meat that comes from special plants called meat trees.
