Parasite Eve (the movie)
- Executive Meddling: Masayuki Ochiai, the director of the movie, stated that the producers basically forced him into making it more like a love story. He goes on to say that there were so many compromises made that it couldn't be a true horror movie.
Parasite Eve (the game)
- Accidentally-Correct Writing: The game features a Colt M1911A2 gun, a model that wasn't developed until 2004.
- Approval of God: The author of the original book, Hideaki Sena, loves the game.
- Dummied Out: Game Shark codes will grant you access to a "Debug SMG", which was a gun that had max stats and every attribute in the book on it.
- Refitted for Sequel: The entire "Detective Drama set in New York City" premise of the game was originally envisioned for Final Fantasy VII, with Aya standing in for Cloud and Daniel for Barrett.
- Screwed by the Lawyers: Why the game has presumably been difficult to rerelease or remaster - the amount of Product Placement as well as it actually being a licensed game (A license which Square-Enix presumably lost sometime in the 2000s) would result in a lot of things having to be changed.
- What Could Have Been: The Parasite Eve artbook contained a storyboard for the FMV where Aya parachutes down for a final confrontation with Eve on Liberty Island. In the game proper, Eve simply gives a calm smirk towards Aya. But in the storyboard, Eve is described as “her expression changes completely; she frowns like she is growling in a monster-like expression”, as seen here.
- The original plan was to set the game in Tokyo. But a suggestion was made by Hironobu Sakaguchi that it should be set overseas and he suggested New York City.
