• Meaningful Release Date:
  • Chapter 11^note originally 18 before the chapters got reorganized was released on the two year anniversary of "The Pursuit of Happiness", the events of which are being covered in the chapter. To put this into perspective, that video was the debut of the two hobos (aka SMG1 and SMG2), and the restaurant scene that showcased said debut is being adapted in Chapter 18.
  • Chapter 15^note originally 21 before the chapters got reorganized of this story that heavily involves Mario was released on March 10th 2023, which is "Mar10 Day".
• What Could Have Been:
  • The first chapter was originally going to be shorter, with Zero's red eye spotlight flashing in the darkness with his arm emerging from it, and it would have ended with him saying, "Witness...", until James decided that the final version would be more interesting.
  • Two examples regarding Mario's fight with Dream at the YouTube Royale.
    • Dream was going to be a Minecraft Zombie at one point.
    • Mario was going to summon an Ender dragon like in the original video. Instead, he ended up deactivating Dream.
  • If you're wondering why all the SMG4 gang's childhood memories (besides Meggy's) are condensed and briefly described in one chapter (Chapter 28), it's because the author contemplated giving them more details, but decided adapting every moment from the memories would be too hard.
  • Also regarding "Mario Babies", Bob's memory almost came after Shroomy's, but the author looked at the episode again and changed the order the "right" way.
  • The scene of the "government secrets" character from The SMG4 Movie: 10 Year Anniversary Special is relatively unchanged, but the author considered giving the role to the Gossip Stones from The Legend of Zelda.
  • For the penultimate chapter, the author thought about including a scene that showed Meggy sleeping at Auri's place and waking up with the feeling she's missing something, which was set sometime after the pilot episode of Sunset Paradise. Instead, the entire cameo from that web show has been Adapted Out.
