• Alan Smithee: The "Jon Gerald" who shares story and teleplay credit on "The Foal", is a pseudonym for veteran TV writer Gerry Day.
• Dawson Casting: Awkwardly averted and played straight in "The Double-Edged Razor". The patient of the week is a teenage girl played by a 24-year-old woman. She has several scenes with another patient in the children's ward played by an actual 13-year-old!
• He Also Did: would you believe you can link this to Star Trek? Leonard Rosenman who composed the series' music, went to score Star Trek IV: The Voyage Home.
• The Other Darrin: Dr. Welby's daughter Sandy is played by Sheila Larken in the Pilot Movie, when Sandy appears later in the series she's played by Christine Belford in the season three two-parter "The Basic Moment", for Sandy's appearances in the final season she's played by Anne Schedeen.
• The Pete Best: Penny Santon originally played Nurse Consuelo Lopez in the TV movie that started the series before being recast by Elena Verdugo for the rest of the run.
