• Acting for Two: The voice actor for Ceri the Dog-tective, Siwan Bowen Davies, also voiced Cadi the reindeer, and played the mayor of the town.
• Adored by the Network: Since 2013, the show has gotten frequent reruns and adoration from the block on the network it airs on, Cyw, which is the contributing factor of why Welsh children are well aware of the show.
• Colbert Bump: Received one on March 6, 2020, when a Twitter user discovered the show and decided to spread word about its existence. The tweet gained traction, and this led to a small fanbase (but not quite Cult Classic territory), a nearly successful attempt at ensuring that the episodes of this show were preserved, and even the creation of This Very Page on This Very Wiki! There are more people now aware of the show from that tweet than there would be if it didn't happen.
• Cowboy BeBop at His Computer: A source that was written during filming of the show in Autumn of 2014 mentioned that Ceri is a "CGI" dog, and it also refers to Radli as "Ragli". Though the former could have just been referring to computer-generated imagery in a 2D sense (as opposed to 3D, which she is not), the latter is clearly a misspelling.
• The Danza: A close example, but Rhys ap Trefor plays the main character, Prys ar Frys.
• Fandom Life Cycle: Outside of its intended demographic, the show could be considered either Stage 1, due to there being very few fans of it out there that wish the show got more love, or Stage 0a, since the only other place the show was distributed in was Wales. Although even among Welsh people themselves, it appears that the show doesn't have much of a "fanbase" to stand on, despite the show's steady popularity.
• Follow the Leader: It doesn't take three clues to see the similarities between this show and Blue's Clues, the latter being a successful, formulaic, 90's cartoon that also features a clutzy live-action man who solves mysteries with his female dog. Yet it was never stated whether Llan-ar-goll-en actually took any inspiration from the show, and could be pure coincidence. Nonetheless, outside of mere premise, the two shows are fairly different in their own right.
• Keep Circulating the Tapes: Llan-ar-goll-en has never had an official home media release, nor is the series in its entirety available for streaming. The most legal means one has for watching this show is living in Wales (and only Wales) and watching S4C on TV, or keeping up with the show on the BBC iPlayer; the latter would be fine if the episodes weren't temporary available (lasting only 30 days per rerun) and only released as they air. Luckily nearly all episodes of the show, with subtitles intact started to get archived since March 2020^note With the exception of 15 episodes that were already ripped by a Dailymotion user in 2018, thanks to a fan effort to preserve episodes as they were released on the iPlayer. The second-to-last episode to be found was on December 25, 2020, with the Christmas Special.
  • Missing Episode: The episode "Sanau" was the only one left to be archived, yet it hadn't aired since August 2019. Its English transcript could still be viewed here. It was thought to have remained lost for the longest time, until a fan decided to contact S4C about this, and they unexpectedly reported back that the episode would finally air on May 24, 2022.
• No Export for You: The show was unfortunately never distributed internationally outside of Wales. Not even an English dub for British audiences was produced, though luckily S4C hosts English subtitles.
• The Resolution Will Not Be Identified: "Y Bowlen Grisial", the final episode of the show, plays out like an average episode and was not advertised as the end of the show. It revolves around Madam Mayor unveiling a very special crystal bowl in town hall when she notices it has disappeared, and Prys and Ceri are on the case. It only features a few characters as well^note Prys ar Frys, Ceri, Mrs. Mayor, Dr. Jim, and Tara Tan Toc.
• Series Hiatus: After the episode "Clychau'n Canu" aired on May 18, 2015, the series took a seven month-long hiatus before it came back late December of that year with a Christmas Episode, and continued as usual.
• Uncredited Role: Both the live-action characters and the animated characters are not credited to who voiced them. It's notably worse in the latter's case, as at least with the former you could determine who played who based on what the actor looks like. The only reason we know Siwan Bowen Davies voiced Ceri is thanks to her LinkedIn confirming so, but for the rest of the talking animals (Ianto, Sugar Lump, Caradog, Cadi, and Carwyn), you're out of luck^note This could still probably be determined using process of elimination, since the only two other voices in the credits are Lisa Jên Brown and Emyr Roberts (under "Additional Voices"). It should also be noted that other than them, the main credits do change depending on the episode.
• Written by Cast Member: According to the credits, some episodes in series 2 were written by Rhys ap Trefor, who plays Prys.
