Trivia / Legion of Super-Heroes (2020)

Go To

  • Development Gag: Ferro Lad in this continuity is shown to be Black. When Jim Shooter created the original Ferro Lad in the Silver Age, he wasn't allowed to make the character African American because DC didn't want to lose distribution in the South.
  • Executive Meddling: Editorial has tried to insist on this Legion being the only one to currently be featured in DC's titles in any capacity. Devin Grayson infamously tried to feature queer Legionnaires from previous iterations of the team in DC Pride 2022, but was told to stick with the ones who knew Jon Kent.
  • Schedule Slip: Several issues were delayed from their release, and Justice League Vs Legion Of Super-Heroes has had its issues re-scheduled in solicitations multiple times. The number of delays is rather ironic considering the only reason Bendis was given the role as Legion writer was thanks to how delayed Doomsday Clock as mentioned below.
  • What Could Have Been:
    • The Legion's return was originally being set up in Doomsday Clock but due to all the delays, Bendis was given the chance to reintroduce the Legionnaires in his Superman run. Doomsday Clock followed suit by erasing its Saturn Girl and featuring Bendis' Legion appearing in the last issue.
    • Lightning Lad and Light Lass were both going to be white as they are in other Legion continuities. The twins appeared as such in promotional materials and design artwork leading up to the Legion's debut in Superman. At some point the two were hastily redrawn as Black people. The originally solicited cover for Millennium #1 also showed Bouncing Boy was going to be Black, but for some reason they decided he was going to stay white in the released version.
    • The DC Future State miniseries was apparently going to be part of the main series, but DC decided to incorporate it since the time jump aspect made sense to include it with the overall theme of the event.
