  • California Doubling: Malagawi doesn't exist to begin with, but the first part of the film was not even filmed in Africa. The Camargue area (Rhône river delta, South-East France) was used instead, with dozens of Francophone African students of the university of Montpellier who were hired as extras.
  • The Danza: Not that difficult to see a shortening of "Robert Hossein" in "Ro|se|n".
  • Production Posse: It's the third movie starring Jean-Paul Belmondo to be directed by Georges Lautner after Flic ou Voyou (Cop or Hood) and Le Guignolo, and one of the numerous collaborations between Lautner in the director's chair and Michel Audiard as screenwriter/dialoguist since Les Tontons flingueurs.
  • What Could Have Been: In the first version of the script, Beaumont survives. It was decided to have him die for maximum dramatic impact instead.
