  • Author's Saving Throw: Several features introduced with the DLC were direct responses to criticisms of the base game.
    • The Final Fantasy characters return after much criticism was laid at their falling Out of Focus as the series had gone on, even from Nomura's own team.
    • Kairi graduates to a playable Action Girl after harsh criticism for being a fridged Faux Action Girl in the base game.
    • The Limit Cut sees the Organization members as bosses at their canonical strength after criticism was laid at the easy Boss Rush against them, a decision made to make the game more accessible for newcomers. They also possess unique, reworked gameplay mechanics, attacks, and boss themes (save Dark Riku and Vanitas, who use a cutscene's version of "Forze Del Male" and the already used III rendition of Vanitas's theme, respectively) when the data bosses of Kingdom Hearts II: Final Mix had long been criticized for simply having the same bosses with buffed stats and attacks and the same boss themes.
    • The titular campaign and Data Greeting allow exploration of Scala ad Caelum after players were disappointed that it was almost entirely a boss arena in the game's climax.
    • Aqua, Riku, Roxas, and Mickey have playable segments added to the climax following criticism of Sora's omnipresence.
    • The DLC has an early scene in which Master Xehanort, Saïx, and Xigbar discuss their membership to address player complaints about where some of their members came from, particularly Terra-Xehanort and Xion.
    • Scenes are added to explain Aqua's freezing up after Terra-Xehanort's initial attack, what the Guardians of Light did while Sora fought Master Xehanort, more of Xehanort's motivations to clear up his final Motive Rant, and the whereabouts of other characters during the climax like Demyx and Lingering Will; all points of contention within the fandom.
      • One scene in Scala also depicts Sora as still being hostile to Master Xehanort despite knowing his true intentions by this point, whereas fans had criticized the base game for making it appear Xehanort was Easily Forgiven once he peacefully surrendered.
