  • Absurdly Short Production Time: The film didn't have exact dates of its filming published, but it's stated to have taken place between November 2016 and January 2017 (about two months).
  • Awesome, Dear Boy: Anna's actress Laura Vandervoort was drawn to the role partially because of her already being a fan of both the Saw franchise and the Spierig Brothers.
  • Completely Different Title: The film was titled 奪魂鋸:遊戲重啟 (Soul-Slashing Saw: Restart) in Taiwan and 恐懼鬥室之狂魔再現 (Escape Room of Terror: Return of the Monster) in Hong Kong.
  • Dyeing for Your Art: Anna and Carly's actresses were blond and brunette respectively before their hair was dyed to be brunette and dirty blond. Eleanor's was done several ways until the creators decided she was better as a redhead.
  • Meaningful Release Date: The film is said to take place around a decade after the death of John Kramer. It was released on October 27, 2017, 11 years (and 364 days) after Saw III, where John originally died.
  • Promoted Fanboy:
    • The film's writers, Josh Stolberg and Peter Goldfinger, are longtime Saw fans who had spent two years pursuing the opportunity to write an installment in the franchise before they were able to pitch their idea. They eventually returned as writers for Spiral and Saw X.
    • Laura Vandervoort is a fan of the franchise and the Spierig Brothers. That, alongside the Spierigs' directing role in the film, was one of the reasons she was casted as Anna.
  • Refitted for Sequel: The Cycle Trap's concept was recycled from an unused blender-like trap that was featured in an early script of Saw IV.
  • Sequel Gap: 7 years passed between the releases of Saw 3D and Jigsaw.
  • Throw It In!: Anna's "Good luck, lollipop" retort to Ryan was ad-libbed by her actress Laura Vandervoort.
  • Working Title: Saw: Legacy. Curiously enough, it was used in the Japanese release as a subtitle, with the resulting title being Jigsaw: Saw Legacy. It was also kept as the title for the Italian release.
