Trivia / Jason Bourne

Go To

  • All-Star Cast: Matt Damon, Julia Stiles, Alicia Vikander, Tommy Lee Jones, Vincent Cassel.
  • Dawson Casting: A slight case, with 45-year-old Matt Damon as 37/38-year old (assuming it's real, the birthday on his passport lists a birth year of 1978) Jason Bourne. Previously his birth year was said to be 1971, just one less than Damon's actually is, but that was part of a code Pamela Landy sent to him. A brief shot of his original file in Ultimatum has his birthday in 1970, which would sync up perfectly.
  • Dyeing for Your Art: Matt Damon admitted that physically training for the role of Bourne was much harder in his forties, and he had to keep to a very strict diet to maintain his physique during filming.
  • Fake American: Swedish actor Alicia Vikander as American Heather Lee.
  • Missing Trailer Scene: Neither Nicky's "Just because you remember everything doesn't mean you know everything" line, or Dewey's "What we're building is bigger than any government" comment, are in the actual movie.
  • Production Posse: Actors Matt Damon and Julia Stiles, director Paul Greengrass, composer John Powell and singer Moby all came back. The previous films' scriptwriter Tony Gilroy however did not, and Greengrass supervised the script instead.
  • Role Reprise: Matt Damon and Julia Stiles reprised their roles as Jason Bourne and Nicky Parsons after a 9 years Sequel Gap.
  • Sequel Gap: The film came out 4 years after The Bourne Legacy, which was more of a Spin-Off set in the same universe than a direct sequel to the first three films, and 9 years after The Bourne Ultimatum (which was the last time Jason Bourne was involved in the plot).
  • Underage Casting: Unless Alicia Vikander's character is older than she is, the audience is being forced to believe that a 27-year-old could have a high-ranking position in the CIA. Her demands at the end of the film to be put in an even higher ranked position highlight this.
  • What Could Have Been: Viggo Mortensen was in talks to play a villain.
  • Working Title: The title was originally going to be The Bourne Resurgence until the producers discovered that two other movies set to be released in 2016 containing "Resurgence": Independence Day: Resurgence and Mechanic Resurgence. Matt Damon and Paul Greengrass have both commented that they never liked the original title, as it seems hokey. To them Jason Bourne is a more fitting title because Bourne has come full circle, as he now knows the whole truth about his past.
