Trivia / Friday Night Funkin' - Childhood Memories

Go To

  • Approval of God: The cover of Your Reality with Sayori and Elmo was made separate from the mod, though Devy really liked it, to the point that the cover officially saw use in the mod itself.
  • Based on a Dream: Devy mentioned that Childhood Memories is based on a dream he had around new types of Friday Night Funkin' mods being themed around a TV show episode.
  • Cross-Dressing Voices: YuriHaru567, a non-binary person, voices the female Child GF/Holly.
  • Dummied Out:
    • There were initially plans to release Volume 2 in the mod's first release, though this was dropped so as to not drag on development. There might be plans to fully implement it in the future, though.
    • Feridoodles6, the composer of "Inferno", was originally intending to make an extended version of the song, though this wasn't completed before the mod's proper release. As such, the one-minute version teased on his YouTube channel is the one that is currently used in the mod.
  • Fan-Work Ban: Whilst Devy is alright with most fanworks and/or unofficial expansions around the mod, there are several that are strictly forbidden. These include:
    • Remade/"revival" mods based on Childhood Memories (a problem that Vs Sonic.exe especially was victim to).
    • Any inappropriate art based on the cast (which outright includes Rule 34 artwork).
    • Ports of any of the mod's songs and/or charts to Funky Friday.
    • Uploading the mod online for web browsers.
    • Porting the mod to Android devices.
  • Prop Recycling: Boyfriend's original sprites and the Week 1 background from the original game are both reused for "Ordinary Tutorial" (in the former's case, that also applies to the secret songs). The Week 7 background and Tankman's sprites are also recycled from the base game for "Patterns (Tankman Mix)".
    • For "Dried Up Hill", the sprites from "GO BACK" and Sonic.exe's sprite style are taken from the official Sonic.exe remaster, and for "Rot or Flourish", the voice clips for Amanda and Wooly are taken from the full version of Amanda the Adventurer.
    • In the Restructure Engine's build (planned to be moved to the complete mod in the future), Sayori's sprites are recycled from Doki Doki Takeover!, specifically her casual outfit.
  • Role-Ending Misdemeanor: After controversy came out against Seismo for harrassment and controversial opinions on the Arab–Israeli Conflict, he was kicked out of the mod's team, and the collab with The Noedolekcin Archives was ultimately scrapped.
  • Rule 34 – Creator Reactions: The README file present in the mod explicitly forbids any NSFW art drawn of Evan and Holly, both canonically underage characters.
  • Two Voices, One Character: In the mod, Face is voiced by BEC Enterprises, but his chromatic used in "Friendly Battle" is sampled from his original voice actor, Chris Phillips.
  • What Could Have Been:
    • The original logo for the mod made more use of a pixel font, though that was a placeholder for the final version of the logo.
    • Several old vocal songs made for the mod, alongside an unused song against Face dubbed "Friendly Battle", can be listened to on the GameJolt page.
    • The dialogue sprite for Evan is based off of an earlier sprite style used for him before Antho revamped his sprites.
    • A thread containing early things planned for the mod can be found here.
    • There were originally plans for a collab with The Noedolekcin Archives with Seismo himself involved, which would've had Holly taking on Kirk Odd herself. However, after controversy came out against Seismo, the collab was ultimately dropped, with an original opponent planned to replace him in the future updates.
