  • Crowdfunder Cameo:
    • Users who donated at least $70 became "Item Sponsors". Backers got an in-game item dedicated to them based on their specifications, as well as 3 copies of the item. Some items that were KS sponsored include the Opal Cobra and its recolors, as well as the Nickel Cat Figurine.
    • Users who donated at least $130 became "Monster Sponsors", and got a familiar that was based on their specifications, as well as 3 copies of their familiar. Some KS sponsored familiars include the Bamboo Phytocat, the Kamaitachi familiars, and the Poultrygeist.
    • Users who donated $300 became "Apparel Sponsors", who were able to design a piece of apparel of their choice. Sponsors also received 3 copies of their apparel item. The Peacekeeping and Haori apparel sets were designed by KS sponsors.
    • Users who donated $700 became "Gene Sponsors". They could design a gene of their choice, and receive 3 gene scrolls. The Seraph gene was KS-sponsored.
    • Users who donated $1500 got the "Dragon Dreamer" reward and were able to design a dragon breed, as well as earn 3 breed-change scrolls for their dragon. The Skydancer breed was designed by a KS sponsor.
  • Demand Overload: The game launched expecting a small userbase, and was immediately flooded with thousands of new users upon the site being opened to the public. This proved to be far too much for the servers to bear, and the site would frequently crash during any high-traffic period following the site opening, particularly after content updates; this is the reason why registration was only open periodically until 2018.
  • Fan Community Nickname: Each flight has different nicknames for their members, including some specifically for new members.
    • Arcane has arcanites, arcanauts, or magelets.
    • Light has acolights.
    • Shadow has inklings, shadowlings or shadowbutts.
    • Lightning has sparks or employees.
    • Plague has plaguelings, germs, or weenies.
    • Water has droplets.
    • Earth has dirts, dirties or pebbles.
    • Nature has seedlings or saplings.
    • Ice has icicles.
    • Fire has embers.
    • Wind has wisps.
  • Fandom Nod: The Achievement for fighting in the Mire for the first time is named "Mire Flyer," the playerbase's name for dragons statted to train two fodder dragons at once in the Mire venue.
  • Official Fan-Submitted Content:
    • Users can create skins and accents, which are actual items in-game which can be bought, sold, traded, etc.
    • Before each festival, there's a contest on the forums where people can submit flight-themed skins and accents. The differences between the festival skin/accent contest and normal skin creation are that the winners of the contest get to have their creations added to the site for free (the Blueprint item you need to create normal skins/accents costs gems to buy), and the skin/accents themselves are much easier for other users to obtain (12 in the treasure marketplace, 6 in gathering and the coliseum, 2 exclusive to Baldwin).
    • The site occasionally hosts familiar coloring contests and item caption contests; the winners of these get their color scheme/caption implemented in the game and receive exclusive forum vistas.
  • Loot Drama: Galore was used at one point to try and correct this, by giving out the extremely powerful, rare, and valuable Eliminate battlestone to every online player. This rapidly led to jokes about Galore using his own Eliminate on the economy; Eliminates are still valuable as a Coliseum-only drop that is used for the fastest Coliseum builds, but a combination of Galore handing them out and the item being added to the most popular Coliseum venue's drop pool means that it's likely they will never again be as expensive on the player-to-player marketplace as they were at their peak of inflation.
  • What Could Have Been:
    • Dragons were going to be monogamous, and a Scroll of Divorce would have been needed to break the bond.
    • Dragons could have died permanently and a Scroll of Resurrection would have been needed to revive them.
    • In the alpha stage, eggs would die if not turned daily. This was removed because players complained the frequent downtime was costing them eggs and because not everyone logs in every single day. Egg Rot remnants still linger in the code. If you visit another player’s nests, you’ll see a listing under each nest of how many eggs out of the total are healthy. It’s always all of them now. Artwork still exists as well, as seen here. Some are a bit creepy.
    • As seen in this concept art, Imperial Dragons were originally going to be wingless like the Eastern Dragons they're based off of.
