Trivia / Ernest Saves Christmas

• California Doubling: Most of the film was shot on location in Florida, but a couple were filmed in Nashville, Tennessee.
• Completely Different Title: In the French dub, the title was changed to Le père Noël est en prison (Santa Claus is in Prison).
• Creator Backlash: Thom Eberhardt, the original script writer, did not like what became of this film, which he said Disney and John Cherry modified far beyond what he originally penned. He asked for his name to be removed from the credits.
• What Could Have Been: One of the drafts of the film had Ernest being asked to take the role of Santa. Studio execs didn't like this idea and asked for the Santa replacement to be a different character.
