• Creator Couple: Fraser and Guthrie.
• Creator's Oddball:
  • The Snow EP is a pair of covers of winter-themed songs commonly associated with Christmastime ("Winter Wonderland" and "Frosty the Snowman") and is the only covers EP the band ever released. Although they were happy with it being an oddball, they didn't want it becoming a Black Sheep Hit and so issued it as a limited edition in numbers low enough to keep it out of the Top 40. Snow is also one of the few albums to be more positive while most of their other ones are more moody.
  • Victorialand is considerably more minimal than their usual work. Robin Guthrie likes the album but has said that he considers it more of a side project than a proper Cocteau Twins album.
• Completely Different Title: When Treasure was first released in Japan, the album was renamed 神々が愛した女たち (Woman Whom Gods Have Loved). A later reissue demoted it to The Foreign Subtitle.
• Late Export for You: The band's albums prior to Blue Bell Knoll were only released in the U.S. through Capitol Records in the early '90s. Prior to that 4AD Records entered into an agreement with Relativity Records to distribute the band's The Pink Opaque compilation in the U.S., but opted not to issue their individual albums. Their albums were still popular enough as imports through College Radio airplay that they were able to play gigs in the U.S. before they had official American distribution.
• Magnum Opus Dissonance: Coupled with a heavy dose of Creator Backlash. Treasure is considered one of the band's best albums; however, Guthrie hates it with a vengeance, describing it as "an abortion" and "arty-farty pre-raphaelite". Raymonde has also been critical of it, although not to the extent of Guthrie, saying that he felt it was slightly rushed and unfinished.
• The Pete Best: Will Heggie, who departed after the recording of the Peppermint Pig EP.
• What Could Have Been: The band was supposed to reunite at Coachella in 2005, and it seemed like it was set. Then Fraser pulled out afterwards and their appearance was cancelled because of it. It was later on confirmed that Fraser couldn't bear being on stage again with Guthrie.
